Pcozzy:Then start applying for summer semester. Go to DAAD/Wikipedia/Google and search for schools that offer your course for summer semester and start applying. The earlier you apply, the earlier you can get AL and book for AD. |

sassy92: Lol.. I have decided to wait till next winter semester. The school told me to contact uni assist very early March, so uni assist will send my documents to them and they will send me anoda AL on time. But can I use this present AL I have to open a blocked account now so I can be gathering the money other than waiting for the new AL they promised to send next year |

walexy06:once you present AL from a different school you must withdraw your application and apply for another interview date and start the process from beginning again 3 Likes |

Pcozzy:You don't need AL to open a blocked account (BA). My advice is that you open a savings account, preferable a High Yields savings account (to reduce temptation of withdrawing the money) and be stashing the money there. Wait till you get another AL and you've received AD before you open and fund BA. |

Good morning house, Thanks for such a wonderful forum. I need some urgent insightful advice about my current situation. My wife received her German student visa last week, and is travelling this week to resume school in Berlin. Our daughter has an American passport, (not a German visa though), and we know she has access to enter Germany without a visa for short stays up to 90 days. Also, we know that American citizens can update their visas after the 90 days inside Germany. However, we are a bit in a dilemma right now because a friend in the UK had an experience where their baby (with an American passport) wasn't allowed into the UK with the wife (she had a study visa) on grounds that the mum was in for a long stay whereas the child had access for only a short stay. Does this apply to Germany for a child with an American passport? How will passport control at Frankfurt treat this situation? What insight or similar experience do we have on this please? |

Pcozzy: You can contact uniassist even now. Upload required documents make payments and wait Uniassist are another set of German bureaucrats that will waste your time of care is not taken. From time of registration to being sorted out can take 6wks If your school says you should contact unoassist in March when applications for winter open April. Dey clearly don't know whaahees going on, unless uniassist have your details already. |

I called my Hamburg Alien office this morning and the woman was speaking German. After like 30 minute, I tried to call back to ask for an English speaker but the phone has been switched off. I guess the workload in the alien office is much and a lot of people are calling. I guess at the point, I need to have patience since I have enrolled. Have you enrolled? imoriafe: |

Hi, From what we have seen this year on the embassy website they will purge their system at the end of March, 2020 to enable winter 20 start booking for appointments from 1st of April, so u could book from that time. In respect of uniassist application you can't apply for the university in March except their application start in March. If you notice u will see that u can only search for universities in which their application is open on uni-assist, except those universities with vpd as one can get a vpd anytime. As for blocked Account (BA), admission letter is not required to open such account with fintiba. You can google fintiba.com to open one. Also note that this account can be open anytime. You may decide to open it now or next year. As for me, i opened mine early this year for winter, but the most important warning is DON'T FUND THE ACCOUNT UNTIL YOU HAVE APPOINTMENT DATE with the embassy. I hope this help. Cheers! Pcozzy: |
