Police Dismiss Claim Of Attack On Atiku’s Witnesses by masterpiece86: 10:26am On Jul 15, 2019
Zamfara Police Command has denied media reports of an attack on witnesses of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar in the state.

A counsel to Mr Abubakar had told the Presidential Elections Petitions Tribunal at its last sitting that the witnesses were attacked on their way to Abuja from Zamfara.

However, the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Muhammad Shehu, said in a statement on Sunday in Gusau that no such attack was recorded in the state.

He described the claim as highly misleading.

Mr Shehu said, “The attention of the command has been drawn over newspapers stories published by some national dailies on Saturday 13 July, 2019.

“That some witnesses of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who were travelling from the state to Abuja have been attacked in the state.

“According to the reports, the witnesses were travelling to Abuja from Zamfara to give witness at Presidential Aspirant Election Tribunal in Abuja.

“They claimed to have been attacked by bandits in Zamfara State, a situation that forced them to scamper into the bush which forced the court to adjourn sitting.

“As far as the state police command is concerned, the claim is not true and has no basis; we wish to draw the attention of members of the public that the story is not true.

“Based on the crime statistics available to the command, there was no attack by bandits either on villages or on any person or group of persons travelling on any highway in the state,’’ he said.

He said since the commencement of peace and dialogue initiative with bandits in the state led by Commissioner of Police, Usman Nagogo, attacks, kidnapping and other heinous crimes have reduced drastically to about 98 per cent.

“Over 100 kidnapped victims have been rescued from the bandits through the peace dialogue”, he added.

Mr Shehu, therefore, described the reports as misleading and attempt to undermine the current efforts of both the state government and the police to bring lasting peace in the state.

“I am using this medium to appeal to media organisations to always verify their reports before publication,’’ the spokesperson said.

Atiku has lost the tribunal already. The only thing that baffles me is how some people think replacing a fulani president with another fulani president is the solution to the fulani nepotism they have been complaining about. Have you ever seen Atiku publicly protest about Buhari's fulanization of Nigeria? And they think Atiku is the solution grin

Rather than these people minding their business and/or carry out proper investigation. They just rush into conclusion so as to score cheap point, appeasing their master.

When Atiku lawyers start disgracing them with facts and pictorial evidences as they did INEC, them go dey blame radio server!

Nigeria now has been reduced to the theatre of the absurd...that's what you get when nonentities occupy leadership positions.

I just want to help Nigeria shame; so, Who will borrow me his/her shame please?

Atiku should go and be prepping for 2023. He should stop wasting energy on drawing Nigeria back.

But I know one thing. Northerners can never hate one another to the bottom of their hearts. That's why they won't stop leading Nigerians. So if you think Atiku will ever wish death or evil for Buhari or sell him to you, you're deceiving yourselves.

And that's why easterners won't stop being sidelined. This is my humble and honest but bitter truth. No sentiments involved.

Politics is in everything that is done in this country. Even those meant to protect the lives of civilians are controlled by some god-fathers, it is whatever their god-father tells them to do, that is what they will say to the public (if not, their job and life and family will be in jeopardy).

The media is also controlled by politicians. So, believe anything you hear at your own peril. Do not trust human government!

How can you embark on a 10hour journey from Zamfara to Abuja by road, on the same day you are meant to testify before the tribunal? Doesn't add up.

There are always 3-sides of a story:

1: The official version
2: The one narrated by the victims or those serving their interests.
And...
3: The eye witness accounts.

If you are not in any way tied to these 3..you're just wasting your time trying to decipher what went down.

Government/politics comes with so many conspiracies.. Even the average man on the street is just left with mere conjectures as to what is actually happening.

One thing I've understood about most Nigerians is that they will prefer to have the road leading to their village to be anything better than deathtraps, than to handle the contract that will see the proposed road pass through the route of their so-called enemies en-route to theirs..

We're so blinded by hatred and jealousy that when Mr A's shop is burning, some others will be happy and wishing the fire never goes out.

Anyway, let me just stop but my heart is just so full this morning.

I knew it's all lie fabricated from pit of Dubai strategic meeting. No name of the witness, or any evidence. Remind me of Galadima and Dine the tree climbee

Reno claimed inec has a server but with all his so called evidence could not proved it was used for result collation.

How does card reader record equal to vote cast for Atiku? Another lie from Dubai

Our intelligent organization is very poor.

The killing of Afenifere leaders daughter could also be part of Dubai strategic meeting.

Recall PDP broke the news less than an hour after the occurrence. How did they get the information?

The death is of political advantage to PDP because of next year election. The killers also appears to have good information about their target. Out of 5 occupants she was single out for bullet.

Arrest ffk and news media that broke the news, they know something about it

A critical questions should be, who and what are the identity of those PDP witnesses that were attacked by bandits?Since PDP supporters are brain dead. They would not ask such questions.
