BREAKING: Gunshots Rock Abuja Secretariat Again by chibuadanne: 3:36pm On Jul 22, 2019 |
Reports just reaching us have it that suspected members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, popularly known as Shiites have invaded the Federal Secretariat, Abuja. According to a source, the Shiites were protesting the continued detention of their leader, Ibrahim Yaqoub El Zakzaky when the protest turned violent. The source who pleaded anonymity said the gunshots were fired by the Police in attempts to disperse the group. “People started running once they heard gunshots. “The Shiite people also burnt down NERMA post opposite foreign affairs,” the source said. Recall that the group recently increased their protest against the detainment of their leader who has been in detention since 2015. The group said it will continue protesting until they secure the release of el-Zakzaky, the Islamic scholar who founded the IMN in the early 1980s. https://thewhistler.ng/breaking-gunshots-rock-abuja-secretariat-again/
