NATIONAL CHAIRMAN OF MIYETTI ALLAH WALLIDIRAH ALH. ARDO YUSUF REACTS TO RUGA RESETTLEMENT ISSUE, SAYS COOPERATION WITH NORTHERN ORGANIZATION IS KEY

In view of the ongoing challenges surrounding the RUGA resettlement issue, the National Chairman of Miyetti Allah Wallidirah Fulani Initiative for Peace and Orientation, Alh. Ardo Musa Yusuf has called on Fulanis across Nigeria to adhere to the position and advice of Northern Elders forum and other notable northern organization, as the safety of their lives and property is most important. He made this statement during an exclusive interview with NasReports in the early hours of Monday, when he noted that the position of the Northern Elders Forum that called on all Fulani herders to return to their homes and states was indeed the best position, as that was the only way they could be safe until necessary decisions are taken to ensure their safety by the federal government.

Still reacting to the developments surrounding the resettlement of Fulani herders, especially as regards the challenges and threat to their lives, Alh. Ardo maintained that other Fulani organization must cooperate with notable and influential northern organization, stressing that the challenges facing Fulani across Nigeria isnt a Fulani problem, but that of the entire north. Therefore, there must be an understanding between all affected agencies so as to tackle the problems headlong. He stated that confrontations and disagreements amongst northern organizations and Fulani institutions will further bastardize the current situation of Fulani herders across Nigeria. Instead he insisted that all northern stakeholders must come together in a conference to chart a plausible roadmap towards providing a solution to the problems surrounding Fulani resettlement in Nigeria.

Alh. Ardo also called on the federal government and relevant national and international agencies to look into challenges facing the Fulani people. He says, "the Fulani's who are herders doing business across states must be given fair hearing, the herdsmen attack are being sponsored by those who wants to create a bad image for the average Fulani herder and this has raised a lot of tension and vulnerability to Fulani across Nigeria". However, he also called on the government to identify the grazing areas, which were originally gazetted grazing reserves for the Fulani people. He says that it is unacceptable to generalize criminalities across a particular ethnic group and therefore it is unlawful to attribute that every Fulani herder is a threat or a terrorist, because there several Fulanis who have contributed earnestly to the growth and development of our nation

Alh. Ardo Yusuf has continued to use his organization, the Miyetti Allah Wallidirah Fulani Initiative for Peace and Orientation to promote justice, equal rights, peace and consistent orientation of the Fulani people across Nigeria. The organization has been apparently active in reacting to burning issues that affects Fulani persons across Nigeria.
