Ekiti State Government has approved the absorption of 272 workers employed by former Governor Ayodele Fayose into the state civil service. The government also re-engaged officers that were recruited in the State House of Assembly, but were sacked in 2014 by the last administration. The decision followed the deliberation of the State Executive Council on a report of a committee saddled with the responsibility to review irregular appointments in the public service between 2014 and 2018. It was alleged that Ekiti State Government has approved the absorption of 272 workers employed by former Governor Ayodele Fayose into the state civil service. The government also re-engaged officers that were recruited in the State House of Assembly, but were sacked in 2014 by the last administration. The decision followed the deliberation of the State Executive Council on a report of a committee saddled with the responsibility to review irregular appointments in the public service between 2014 and 2018. It was alleged that the recruitment exercise didn’t go through due process, especially as it involved biometrics. The recruitment exercise was allegedly hurriedly done, even up till the very night of the day of exit of the former governor. Read also: Soldiers begin ‘operation-stop- and-search in Ekiti It was on basis of that the Fayemi-led administration set up an executive committee headed by the Deputy Governor, Chief Bisi Egbeyemi, to review the appointments. According to a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti yesterday by the Head of Service, Mr. Ayodeji Ajayi, through his Press Officer, Mr. Rotimi Feyisina, “the approval covers the integration of 272 officers of various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and Local Government Service Commission who had been on manual payroll system to the biometric payroll system for payment of their salaries forthwith while their outstanding salaries are to be paid in four instalments. “It also covers the re-engagement of 80 of the officers that were recruited in the State House of Assembly, but were disengaged in 2014 by the last administration, in consonance with available vacancies in the 2019 personnel budget.
