Boko haram insurgents operating has reportedly killed 60 mourners in a village in Nganzai local government area of Borno state.

The Daily Trust reports that hat the attack by the terrorists came a week after some communities confronted Boko Haram operatives in the area and killed 11 of them. However, the indigenes of Nganzai local government reportedly seized several rifles from the insurgents during the attack.

According to the Chairman of Nganzai Local Government, Mohammed Bulama, Two weeks ago, Boko Haram insurgents attacked Badu village but the attack was repelled by the villagers and members of the vigilante group

Speaking to newsmen he said,

“ON SATURDAY AT ABOUT 11:40 AM, THE INSURGENTS CAME ON A REPRISAL MISSION, ATTACKING MOURNERS AT A GRAVE YARD IN THE AREA, KILLING OVER 60 PERSONS AND INJURING 11 OTHERS,”

Recall that it was reported at the beginning of the year that Boko Haram has been decimated. The president, Buhari who campaigned in Kebbi State ahead of the 2019 election, disclosed that Borno residents confirmed that Boko Haram have been fully decimated during his campaign in the state.
