Miss Dorcas Iengem Toryem is a rare combination of beauty and brains. Highly intelligent, academically gifted and extremely lively.

Her sojourn to academic excellence began on a rather rocky note.

After graduating from the prestigious W.M. Bristow Secondary School Gboko, she proceeded to the nearby University of Mkar for further studies.

Her lively disposition was totally misunderstood by the authorities of the conservative institution, leading to her rustication for no good reason.

The determined young lady packed her bags and headed to Igbinedion University Okada (IUO) in Edo State, where she gained admission to study Mass Communication.

In her first two years at IUO the young lady racked up a GPA of 4:86.
It was within that period that her mum introduced her to her own relative, Charlie Erukaa, the enigmatic journalist with an eventful career.
She confidently told the older professional "I am a first-class candidate!"

The Experienced broadcaster was intrigued by the young student's quick wit, commitment to her studies and zest for life.

He became her mentor and close confidant. She had so many questions regarding the profession, and he often gave her insights into the practical aspects of the media.

Two years later, Dorcas Toryem stayed true to her boast and has bagged a FIRST CLASS degree in Mass Communication.

During her stay at IUO she held various positions of responsibility including Treasurer, General Secretary and one-time Acting President of the Mass Communication Students Association (MACOSA).

She also served as Features Editor for both IUO Herald (departmental newspaper)and IUO Post (school newspaper)
She was also the Sports editor for IUO herald.

In all her assignments, Dorcas conducted herself with distinction.

The numerous awards and accolades she won include *Best Byline*, *Best Exco*, *Media Personality of the year*.

Her friend/mentor Charlie Erukaa describes her as a walking paradox.
That's because it is practically impossible to find a vibrant, socially adjusted girl who is able to hit dizzying academic heights without being a nerdy bookworm.
To confirm that it was no fluke, the young student would always answer his questions on her school work with ease, while also asking very penetrating questions about Mass Communication practice.
