I think we have gone through this discussion on a particular thread on NL. People keep saying you can browse using your decoder, as loud as this INFO is i have not seen up till now a SINGLE SOUL that will come out and say he/she has tried it and it worked. In as much as i would like to give the thread starter a benefit of a doubt, i still have some reservation on the success of this.

As a matter of fact, all the so called people who are apostle of this INVENTION knows next to nothing about it cos all they are interested is to sell their "WELL PACKAGED e-BOOK" on how to do it. If you go a step further you'll get to see all the "GADGETS" one needs to buy to accomplish this UTOPIAN TASK. To the best of my knowledge it runs into thousands of money to get it started. But ask them if they have done it or not you'll get know reply.

whenever i look at such cheap publicity, my conclusion is such poster is trying to display his folly at a very cheap rate. How can u compare a decoder to a MODEM? With the number of well informed persons we have on this forum, if anyone here should fall for such a cheap scam, then such a person existence will be a big mistake to this generation.

i hate to be a scammers advocate. but i know it is possible BUT NOT ON EVERY SATTELLITE.

if you can cast your mind back, a few years ago, Multichoice in collaboration with MWEB was actually doing this via their decoders!! the price was prohibitive though.

actually, if you get a satellite that carries data along with tv signals you can do this. the thing is data signals and tv signals are not any different, its the equipment that translates it that is different.

for internet, i believe you use what is know as a cable modem which you hook up to the decoder. . . . . . .
come to think of it, i know for a fact that in france you can get a bundled package of TV and DATA over the same equipment from one provider. believe SKY UK does this too (I MAY BE WRONG, LET SOMEONE ABROAD CLARIFY) http://www.sky.com/shop/

bottomline is i do believe its possible. but whether our scammers can actually do it, is anyones guess. if i were you, i'd stick to MTN et al (unfortunately)

There is no way you can browse using your decoder without a modem. The only way is if your decoder has an inbuilt modem. Plus you still need a telephone line. It's equivalent to the one way internet service being offered by some providers. Uplink is via a telephone line, etc which you pay for, the down-link is via satellite using normal dish and lnb. This makes downloads faster and cheaper. since dial up is way too slow. Alternative is FISHING (and you don't have control except to filter undesirables)

my point is the decoder alone wont do BUT WITH SOME EQUIPMENT, the decoder is very capable of being ur downlink!!

We're all saying the same thing here but on different wavelength. The GIST line is: ARE THE PROVIDERS PROVING DATA ALONDSIDE THEIR SIGNALS? ALSO, HAS THIS GUY TRIED IT AND IR WORKED FOR HIM?

To me basically, people just love to shout about some so called "NEW THINGS" just to make people feel as if "THEY'RE CURRENT". If not, how can som1 heard of a new in thing and without putting it to use to certify that it worked instead start publicizing it, i think its uncall for.

Segzkykay idea does work mainly on satellite pc cards link Skysat 2 plus others.
The satellite card comes in as a down link as a modem would be required for uplink for internet access. This basically helps one if you do alot of downloads of movies, Music, software where the download speeds are very first.

The other option is where you use the card to download movies, music using a software called sky grabber which basically downloads what data is being streamed for a particular provider. With the sky grabber software you do not need any uplink modem.
The only main downside of Sky grabber software is that most of the data you download is porn.

The are receivers in market which have the option of wifi connection, with this you can cardshare and for the wizkids you hack wifi internet access using some software on your receiver. As of now the world i shifting to internet so brace yourselves for the new frontier.

Skysat is a PC satellite tv card also know us A DVB device. For Internet data you can use Eutelsat w3 frequency 12728 V 3000 in our region

How does it work?
You need a telephone connection (dial-up, GPRS or any other) to send data to the Internet. You can use any Internet Service Provider. You will receive data (websites, files) straight on your PC via satellite at high speed.


What do I need?
Dish
Point your dish properly to receive the data e.g on Eutelsat w3 at 7 degree east

DVB Card
A DVB device is a satellite modem. There are both internal (PCI) and external (USB) devices.
An example of DVB decive is Skystar 2 pc satellite tv card.
Telephone line

As posted earlier it's called one way internet and there is no way you can use it free. most of the downloads gotten from fishing is attributable to this.

I have tried this option but it's not working now where i reside as there are very few wifi access points in Nigeria. It's common in  Lagos and Abuja mostly owned by multinational companies-offices/residences and hotels.  Other areas no wifi networks and nigerians are using ftb now so no need to bother with the wifi. There are softwares that can hack wifi WEP Keys, recently i got a mail introducing a device that can connect to wifi and hack access password without you bothering with any software, just connect to your pc/laptop and enjoy - wifirobin. it sells for about $100

you can also use a cantenna to boost signal
for a start you can google wifirobin and cantenna.  you can equally use a wireless lan connection - usb or pci
