CHAIRMAN of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) Jigawa State chapter, Dr. Abubakar Hassan Fulata, has demanded a 10-year jail term for ousted governor of Ekiti State, Segun Oni, for what he described as theft of the mandate of Ekiti people.

Fulata, who was reacting to a recent Appeal Court ruling, which declared Action Congress candidate, Kayode Fayemi, as winner of the rerun election in Ekiti State, expressed absolute faith in the judiciary as the last hope for the common man.

He said but for the absence of an appropriate law for mandate theft, the likes of Oni should have bagged a 10 -year prison term.

Urging support for the party, Fulata assured Nigerians that ACN would remain the only internationally recognised opposition, saying it is a sign of better things to come in the 2011 election.

In the same vein, a former lawmaker in the House of Representatives representing Babura/Garki constituency in Jigawa State said, judges have just started to realise the need to live up to their responsibilities, after political judgments that dampened faith in the judiciary. “Many tribunal judges were traders, who had no respect for the profession and had no fear of God. But this judgment has shown that it is not all judges that are corrupt. It is equally a sign that the 2011 election will be a different ball game,” he said.

Not should, but "WILL".

Oni is lucky that Fayemi is a clean gov with cleaner intentions for ekiti state. If na IBB, Oni would have suffered. angry
