Saraki Promises South East 2015, Pledges To Reinvigorate Agriculture

AS the run up to the parties’ primaries for the 2011 presidential election gathers momentum, one of the front-runners, Dr Bukola Saraki has promised the South East geo-political zone a fair deal in 2015, should they support and join hands to bring his current presidential bid to pass.

This pledge was restated by his Anambra State Alh Abubakar Bukola Saraki Presidential Campaign Organisation co-ordinator, Mr Kenneth Iloanya during the formal inauguration of the state’s campaign machinery at the Liberty Hotels, Awka, yesterday.

The Campaign spokesman appealed to the South East zone to throw their full political weight behind his principal and be rest assured of a reciprocity in 2015 when the zone hopes to aspire take over the reins of power, based on his party’s (PDP) gentleman’s agreement at the 2002 national Caucus meeting. Anambra citizens, nay the zonewere therefore assured mainstream participation in scheme of things under the national leadership and administration of Saraki, once he wins.

Noting that the survival of the nation beyond 2011 would largely depend on how well the political class was able to manage the general election for a smooth transition, the Campaign coordinator saw strategizing beyond the forthcoming election as part of dynamics democratic rights of sny geo-political zone or group in the country. He observed that with the exception civil war, “never has the country been so polarized along sectional lines over the issue of who runs the affairs of the nation or not, than the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) choice presidential candidate for the 2011 election”.

Dr Saraki, the incumbent governor of Kwara state and also the all Governors Forum, both positions he believe he has managed commendably, therefore came forward as a “linking bridge Nigeria needs between the old and the new breed politicians, the North and South”, and bring to bear the combined energy of the youth and the wisdom and experience of the aged.

Saraki, a scion of the Dr Olusola Saraki, the former Senate Leader’s political dynasty was credited to have played major role in the famous doctrine of necessity which reportedly saved the country in the trying days of the late President Musa Yar’Adua’s ill health and long absence from the seat of power.

He is also noted to have revolutionalised the agricultural production in Kwara state which instantly thrown the state into the food basin of the nation, among so many landmark achievements.

To be honest, most Igbos do not care about whose in power. Some just want to be left alone, while others just want to see improvement of the region.

For me. . . I want federalism.

ha!
So, promise of 2015 to SE is the only thing this guy can think of in order to be in the race. What a waste of human semen.
Where is vision. What will nigeria look like at the end of his tenure? What are the step-by-step way of achieving it?
Who is he to insult a whole people? Is  he in a position to dash power to anyone? Does he have power over even his own life?
This guys (this saraki boy and others) need to be tamed!

Nigerian Journalists should stop this childish reporting.

This is Keneth Iloanya speaking and it is not difficult to have a news headline that represents the news itself.
This kind of reporting where headline claims "saraki says" and the body claims "Iloanya on behalf of Saraki says"   . . .is just outdated in my view. News headlines should be consistent with the body of the news.

second this whole talk of Presidential candidates supporting the South East in 2015 is getting disrespectful and patronising. Is there nothing else in terms of policies they have to offer the South East now?

This claim of 2015 support for South East also assumes that whoever is the President has more than one vote in 2015. This agenda is premised on perpetuating rigging and quite frankly anybody using this language as a political quid pro quo should be called out to explain what they are trying to say.

Now people realize it is a cheap trick shocked.

Although you could trust Saraki's words over IBB's it was not the same when IBB said it, which can only mean one thing - counting on IBB being too old to rule in 4 years. But, if that were so, it also makes him too old to rule now!

I don't know what people expect in any case. Nigerian politics is currently a race to the bottom - even when push comes to shove, Jonathan would promise the Southeast 2015.

Nobody is looking at real solutions. Instead, they are fighting like dogs over a piece of meat dropped by incompetent and selfish hands that set another trap for the Nigerian experiments with the issue of zoning!

whether he promises or not, the fact still remains that people in or outside the se want change in government
so promising the se does not mean he or ibb are going to win
people want there cities to be developed and not empty promises as if we are not going to vote in 2015
WHY CAN'T AN IGBOS PRODUCE A CANDIDATE

Didn't he claim that he and his ancestors are Fulani from Mali? Why is a Fulani from Mali even allowed to be governor in Nigeria, let alone contest for president? He needs to go back to Mali, northern Nigeria or wherever he is really from. And remove the Bukola from his name, he is certainly no Yorubaman.
