Shi’ites, also known as the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), has spent the last four years agitating for the release of its leader Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, and his wife from detention, with no results. To cap it all, the federal government has now designated the sect a terrorist organisation.

This came after recent violent protests and clashes with security operatives over the same lingering issue.
