It was a rude shock to Nigerians on Sunday to hear that the embattled Senior Pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), Biodun Fatoyinbo, has returned to his position in the church. This is coming barely a month after stepping down following the allegation of rape against him by Busola Dakolo and a few others.

Early in July, the allegations had raged, with scores of protesters at the Abuja-based church to call for Fatoyinbo’s prosecution. Busola had accused him of raping her 20 years ago, while she was still a teenager. It is most worrisome that Fatoyinbo could return to the pulpit without any information from the police on the progress of their investigation, which ignites fear that justice may be flying away, without us knowing.

Its not the police's role to go to the media on such matters. Rather, the media should make it a duty to follow up the case if they are so interested.
