That shark is the victim of Chinese shark-fin hunters who are decimating shark populations worldwide by catching THOUSANDS of sharks on long lines, and then cutting off all their fins to make shark fin soup, which is considered a delicacy, but in reality has ZERO nutritional value. The most cruel and insidious aspect of shark fin fishermen's activities, is that the fins are cut off while the sharks are alive, and then the sharks are kicked overboard back into the sea, where they die slowly, spiraling down to the sea bed, since they are no longer capable of swimming. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0p_LdfgmxQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mO7hvOtYnck Note the position of that man's hand in the photo above, and you will clearly see that the dorsal fin of that shark has been sliced off cleanly, along with the two pectoral fins that normally stick out the sides of the animal. While these two gentlemen did carry out what they thought was a kind deed, by returning the shark to the sea, that creature was doomed to die, since it would never swim again. In Nigeria, Chinese shark fin buyers frequent beaches like Eleko and Lekki, where they pay local fishermen to strip-mine the sea of all sharks, and kill them in that slow and exceedingly cruel manner, in order to slice off the fins for the Chinese to eat in their fancy restaurants. This is an ongoing GLOBAL crime wave many decades old, and still very much in progress. |
