Nigeria is a great country despite what people say. Nigeria has faced many tough times and has overcome those problems. We have lived when people said we would die and we continue to stand here today. Although we face our unique problems, we must find our unique answers to them rather than Europeanesque ones. We must learn again to solve African problems with African solutions just as Tafawa Balewa, Nnamdi Azikiwe, and Awolowo did. If one looks at Nigeria today, he or she migth laugh and say "Is this your aafrican gaint?", but we musnt ignore them because a good way to kill a dog is to make it deaf. We must use previous expreiences, outside examples and our won inginuety to solve our problems. The main problems in Nigeria are "Lack of electricity, lack of good roads, and lack of security". Without these three economical growth is almost impossible. i remeber some time back seeing pounded Yam bags saying "PRODUCT OF NIGERIA", but nowadays all you see is "MADE IN GHANA". The Nigerian gov't has found it increasingly cheaper and more convenient to buy goods from the already well-established Ghanaian retailers rather than go through the trouble of buying domestic goods. How can goods be mass produced with out electricity to run factories? How can goods be transported to ports without good roads? And how can goods be safe without adequate security? Nigeria began the "race" as the hare who rushed and fell asleep on the way, but nations like Ghana and Kenya have overtaken us just as the tortoise who took the journey one-step-at-a-time. Nigeria awake from your slumber and lead the way!
