Dear Emir, you donot appeal to your employee to do his job you expect him to. If he does he is rewarded, if he doesn't he is sanctioned. Such is the lot of the Nigerian politician in relation to the citizenry. Liberty will only be realised when both parties know their places in the scheme of democratic development. They are elected and entrusted with power to serve. And the service is essentially limited to 'organising society'.

They are merely privileged, not better in anyway than the society they serve. If the economy is bad, know this. There are far more economic experts amongst the citizens than there are in government so rather than the government doing what it wants, democracy expects the government to listen to the citizens they claim to serve and do what the citzens direct it to do. That is democracy working FOR the people.

So dear Emir your duty is to enlighten your people on their civic responsibilities to administer democracy properly, reward performance, sanction mediocrity, fight insubordination and direct government to do the bidding of the people. To sit down and plead, hope, beg will not make a car go in a straight line if the driver decides to fold his arms at the wheel. The people have been ambivalent for too long and watched as this government is crashing their destinies.

If you still donot know how I will recommend at least one hour a day watching CNN on democracy in the United States or Sky News on democracy in the United Kingdom. Just watch everyday and begin to observe how governments relate with citizens in bringing sustainable development.
