The Federal High Court Abuja will, on Monday, deliver its ruling in a suit, seeking to stop President Muhammadu Buhari from inaugurating the 43 ministerial nominees over the exclusion of an FCT indigene from his cabinet list.

The applicant, Mr Musa Baba-panya, who is also the counsel in the case, had, on Thursday, approached the court with an exparte motion, asking the court to stop the President from going ahead with the inauguration.

In suit number: number: CS/876/19, Baba-panya, who is also an indigene of Karu in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), said READ FULL STORY HERE

There is no law that says someone from FCT must be a minister. The appellant is just wasting his time. The court will not grant the frivolous request.

We aren’t talking law here. We are talking discretion. They are appealing for consideration, and rightly so. Humans wrote the law, it can be amended.

If FCT was the ancestral land of some other tribes in Nigeria, there would have been major clamours from all and sundry. Because the gwaris/gbagyis of FCT are peaceful people, thus this situation.

30% derivation is given to oil producing states as consideration for the environmental degradation their lands may suffer due to oil exploration and drilling. Why can’t the Indigenes of FCT be considered when they are host to the federal capital territory as a whole?

My brother think am!

I’m not against giving ministerial appointment to an indigenous person from Abuja. What I am saying is that they can’t achieve what they want through the court. They should do more of lobbying the presidency and noise making in the media instead of trying to scuttle the swearing in of minister through the court.
