Our parents, for the sake of god; knock on your kids door before entering. As shared by a friend on Quora

Very recently I traumatised my mother and myself simultaneously, which could’ve easily been avoided if she had just knocked on my fucking door.

Flicking the bean, fingering, finger lifting, micro massaging; whatever you want to call it. That’s what Mama Kate saw her little girl doing.

Yep. I was happily doing myself, when she decided to waltz in my room; mid session.

I probably could’ve gotten away with it, if I hadn’t kicked my phone off of the bed and my earphones hadn't been ripped out, filling the room with sounds that can’t be played off as a documentary.

So there I was, butt naked in front of my mother. With porn going on in the background, and she tells me nonchalantly to come out and cut onions for dinner.

I refused to show my face for a good 20 minutes. When I finally did, the first thing she asked was if I had washed my hands.

She still doesn’t knock first, and still gives me shit for catching me in the act.

Feel free to share your experience fellow Nairalander

My dad walked in on me beating my meat; i was 13 and just recently discovered I could get myself off.

So he walked in, saw me hard at work, pun intended lol and just smiled and told me it would feel better with vaseline.

It was at that moment I became best friends with my dad. We talk about everything, literally everything. Thank God for my dad.

OK, I was about 7 or 8, my mom caught me scooping NAN milk into my mouth from my little brother's milk tin.

(and to think a few years later, I hated that milk cos it tasted like what I felt breast milk would taste like then)

I saw her and quickly shut the tin, but my mouth was full, she saw it, but still called me to open my mouth and then says:

Mom: Is this how you want to live your life? (that was one of her favorite questions back then)

Me: (shake my head)

Mom: That's how stealing begins.

Then she lectured and lectured me about stealing and other vices that went with it.

I never did it again though. She never even mentioned it again, was thinking she was going to tell the others when they returned in the evening. She never did.

Jehovah disciplines those he loves to the "proper degree". Your loving mum did the same (Colossians 3:21)
