Governor Emeka Ihedioha of Imo State has appointed Kanu Nwankwo as his Senior Special Assistant on Sports. This was contained in a statement on Thursday by Aic Akwarandu, special assistant to the governor on new media. “In this new role, the Nigeria World Cup skipper will assist the Ihedioha administration on rebuilding the sports sector in Imo State”, it said. Born 1 August 1976, Papilo, as fondly called is a holder of the OON national title, he founded the Kanu Heart Foundation (KHF) which has saved hundreds of lives.
