Ike Ekweremadu, the former Deputy President of the Senate, has confirmed the physical attack on him by members of IPOB – Indigenous People’s of Biafra, on Saturday in Nuremberg, Germany.

He confirmed the assault in a statement released by Uche Anichukwu, his Media Assistant, in Abuja.

On Saturday,[url=poisenews.com] Nigeria Newspaper[/url] reports that a short clip, about 64-seconds, about the attack had gone viral on the social media.

It was seen in the video how he was being violently questioned over his conspiracy with the FG to ban IPOB in the South East and killing many of its members.

PoiseNews reports that there were speculations at first on the originality of the video in which the irate IPOB members threw eggs at the senator.

He explained how the event happened on his social media handle, @iamekwerrmadu, however, he assured that he is safe.

He said he had at once reported it to Mr. Yusuf Tuggar, the Nigerian Ambassador to Germany.

He further said that he attended the Second Annual Cultural Festival and Convention that was organized by Ndi-Igbo Germany today, where he was asked to give a speech along with Chief Nnia a wood, the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, who was unable to be present.

He said he welcomed by Ndigbo in Germany and all went smoothly until some men of IPOB stormed the venue and started complaining about the murders in the South East.

He added that when they got there, he tried to engage them, but he had to leave the venue as they were violent. The organizers of the forum called the police and he was escorted out of the venue.

He is disappointed in their conduct, especially as he is one of the those who have spoken up on justice for Ndigbo, the Python Dance. However, he said he does not hold any grudge against them, for they are not aware of what they are doing.

He claims he has received so much solidarity calls and messages from Ndigbo that means well.
