The Japanese Exchange and Teaching Program aims to strengthen internationalization in Japan by promoting mutual understanding between the Japanese people and those of other countries. The program aims to improve the teaching of foreign languages and to promote international exchanges at the local level by strengthening the ties between Japanese youth and young foreigners.

The objectives of the Programme are being achieved by offering JET Programme participants (hereinafter, participants) the opportunity to serve in local authorities as well as public and private elementary, junior high and senior high schools in Japan.
