Group reacts as Police says daughter of ex-gov’s aide not kidnapped, went to boyfriend’s house

A daughter of Frank Anioma, an aide to Chimaroke Nnamani, a former governor of the Enugu State, alleged to have been kidnapped by herdsmen, has been found.

National dailies and online news portals which reported the abduction of Kaosisochukwu Anioma, said the victim was kidnapped on her way to the New Haven market in the state capital.

Her father, Mr Anioma while raising the alarm on Thursday, said the telephone number of her daughter was ringing without being picked up.

“Her phone was ringing when we called her number but there was no reply. Thereafter it went into busy,” Anioma posted on his Facebook timeline.

But on Friday evening, the politician said her kidnapped daughter has been found, refusing to narrate what transpired.

Reacting to the incident, the state police command said Kaosisochukwu was not kidnapped by herdsmen as alleged, but went to visit her boyfriend in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

“Kosisochukwu Anioma recently faked to have been kidnapped is now with @policeng_enugu. Reveals that she was not kidnapped but left their house in Enugu to meet with her school boyfriend in owerri,” the Police tweeted Saturday morning.

She must have gone for the visit without informing her parents, thereby leaving them with no option than to blame herdsmen who are alleged to be arrowheads of insecurity nationwide.

GROUP REACTS

Reacting to the release of the young lad, the Enugu Youth Coalition (EYC) said the new development has vindicated its earlier position that politicians in the state were out to cause chaos.

“The unravelling of the truth behind the fabricated kidnap of Miss Kosisochukwu Anioma, daughter of an aid to a former governor of the state has justified our position backed by credible intelligence that most of the negative reports emanating from Enugu State are false, malicious, fabricated, planted, mischievous and sponsored by some ungrateful politicians from the state with the aim of inciting the people, the church and the Federal Government against the peace-loving people and the government of Enugu State,” Edwin Obune, who heads the EYC said in a statement made available to reporters on Saturday.

“No doubt, the exposed lie is part of the wider conspiracy to discredit the government, demonize the leadership and effect a regime change through unorthodox means in due time and season.

“We also have it on good authority that following the unsuccessful execution of the first phase of their evil plots by instigating violence, exploiting security lapses across the nation and manipulating the media, some of these politicians have returned home to brief their foots soldiers and direct them on how to execute the second phase of the evil plans against the people and government of Enugu State in the weeks and moths ahead.

“Some of their new plans includes but not limited to whipping up marginalisation sentiments, domination of government by people from one part of the state, taking pictures of roads leading to private farms in the villages and posting them on the internet as state of bad roads in Enugu State among others.

“We therefore call on Nigerians, the good people of the state, friends, supporters and lovers of Enugu State to remain vigilant to their antics and to always rally round the state government in the ongoing fight against good governance and participatory democracy in the state,” the statement partly read.

The leader of the EYC said the state is not only safe, peaceful and secure, but also hospitable and welcoming to tourists and investors who will want to invest their fortunes in the state.

This is what the evil politicians all over the country are really after.
To cause mayhem and chaos all over the nation.
Just to castigate the government.
These animals and their supporters wake up early in the morning looking for negative stories and news about bombings all over the nation.
Anyone praying and planting evil in our nation will never know peace all the rest of their miserable lives.

I see nothing wrong visiting a friend, the girl should have gotten the consent of her parents. I was only 14 when my girlfriend started visiting at home, a rarity in most homes. That way the parents get to monitor who their child chills with. Sincerely in all of those years my girlfriend and I never thought of sex cos we were dating under the close supervision of both her parents and mine, at best we only cuddled or kissed. Whenever she visited she slept in my sisters room. Back here it is not out of place to see high school students travel halfway across the world to meet with a random friend. The bottom line is for parents to open their eyes, communicate a lot and for children to also see the need to stay safe. An igbo adage says "Ka isi dozie akwa gi ka iga arahu na ya"
