We asked for change in 2015. Is this change? Was the plane new or used? Was the price inflated or the best possible price? Where is the BPP approval? Most if not all the contracts awarded since 2015 from the airports, trains, roads etc have all been tainted with corruption. Too expensive if transparent and well bidded for. Corruption still running wild

Past 2 decades we had non:

Contracting from SA: $500k x 20 = $10million

Buying = 8.5million.

Will it last for 20years??

Your calculation is incorrect, it is $500k in 6 months= $1m in 1yr= $20m in 20yrs

For dunderheads who will soon start barking like rabbid dogs without the slimmest knowledge of this newly acquired equipment.

According to the report, the calibrating services of this equipment used to be contracted to SA at a whopping cost of $500k every 6 months, wtf.

And to think the thought of acquiring this equipment after over 2 decades of lacking same never occurred to previous successive administrations speaks volumes of how "they really cared" for the self sufficiency of this country. Of course they wouldn't since perhaps the aviation ministers criminally enrich themselves through those lapses. Imagine, $8.5m, they refused to buy despite the huge revenue and depleted foreign reserves.

Sons of dogs whose future were being eaten up by those past leaders will still not hesitate to show buhari the full length of their tongues on this account. Smh.

God bless President Muhammadu Buhari
God bless Nigeria and Nigerians.

The way you use the word 'dog" tells us a lot about you. You are not doing very well up there.

One aircraft to calibrate the entire airspace of a whole country.

It’s more than enough. It’ll sit idle most of the time because you only calibrate once in six months.

How many airports do we have that is functioning?

A calibration aircraft is generally used to inspect equipments like ILS,VOR or any other communication or navigational instrument to ensure that they work accurately and precisely

yes it can last more than 20 years as it is an aeroplane and not keke napep

and $500k per 6month equals $1million per year, this means in two decades of leasing it from south africa we are goin to pay $20 million dollars as opose the 10m you mis calculated
Don't mind them, they don't even realize that a lot of aircraft flying every day are over 20 years commercial planes for that matter, even in almighty America. Simple calculation they don't even know. They are just full of hatered and bitterness.

Have you considered that we could also lease it to other African nations that don’t have and make money from it. If we lease to just 2 countries that will be 1 million dollars every 6 months and 2 million dollars in a year that can be used to pay staff and service the craft also note we can lease to say even 4,5,6 countries like S.a is doing. If una see good thing applaud am.

these people just dey waste money on useless things , who did we offend imagine 8.5 mil usd , i blame Nigerians sha not the government because we are too stupid and foolish to see
before now, Nigeria has been contracting S.A to calibrate our aircrafts at $500,000 every six months. Calculate how much has been wasted over the years past. Every government before now knew they could reduce that cost by making a one time purchase but they didn't because it suited them. Use your brain... This is a wise decision instead of paying 1M dollars every year to do what we can do ourselves.

you should have calculated it at 500k × 40 since its twice a year, it would then come to $20million.

And we wonder at how easily, people fall to scams! That's a waste of billions, poured into pockets instead of a viable investing into more appropriate expenditure!
Pray tell me, what exactly are they calibrating? Are you saying the distance from point A to B, is whole figures different, on particular days or by different planes? Whether you are driving in a Lamborghini or fiat truck, the distance between Abuja n kaduna, stays same! It's only duration and comfort, that differs.
You can get surveyors to accurately plot any distance and planes, have their odometer for distance covered. So pray tell me why waste such resource? I was expecting a scientific need that will befuddle, but got a lame one instead!
This country is blessed but we got so complacent with looting leaders, we develop thick skins to blatant acts of rapes, on our sense of worth!!

I support the purchase of the aircraft even if we don’t lease it out.

You see there too many kids on NL so because of the problems you listed above other areas of the economy should be neglected? Why then do we have different ministries? If we are without that plane for decades it should continue to be so? You said I am not qualified to talk to you on instrumentation and control do you know me or my specialisation?
