The humans that work in any company are its most valuable resource. This is why the job of the Human Resource Officer is most important as it will determine how successful that company is in the long run.

Below are some of the characteristics of successful HR officers.

Always give feedback: The most efficient human resource managers and officers always give feedback whether negative or positive to staff, depending on their performance. Giving feedback is important because it puts things into perspective for every staff and helps them immediately identify areas they need to work on with regards to their job. Feedback also ensures the company and the staff are on the same page and the most successful HR officers always ensure that lines of communication are clear between staff and management as to goals, objectives and rate of progress.

Build and maintain a compelling culture: Every company has a culture with which it will like its staff to operate. The most outstanding HR managers build a culture that ensures the company is portrayed in the best possible light while assisting employees to maintain that culture with the most ease possible.

Reward deserving staff: Nothing makes an employee more excited about their job than a good reward system. As part of the strategy to ensure the sustainable growth and development of the company and staff, a reward system is usually used by Human Resource officers to compensate staff for going the extra mile or performing outstandingly.

Prioritize staff benefits: More than just paying salaries at the end of the month, outstanding human resource managers ensure the staff at least enjoy some benefit of working for their company. These may include HMOs, loan benefits, transportation or more. Benefits for staff is part of what ensures their quality of life is maintained at a decent level and they are in perfect condition to give their utmost best on the job.

Use an efficient payroll system: Paying staff salary when due is most important and this is ensured by the HR manager. Non-payment or delay of salaries in many companies is a reason for slow growth and in many cases, this is caused by a payroll system that doesn't serve employees and employers well. Many old fashioned small business owners don't even have a payroll system. A good Human resource manager ensures there is a payroll system set up to ensure staff are paid on time and when due. A lot of them are now using HR360 to run payroll for staff to solve this problem.

The difference between the good and the great is usually in the details.
Every successful HR manager understands the importance of placing the need for its staff productivity first, before anything else.
