- The politician is a child of Nigerian father and British-Irish mother who had to go through thick and thin for the family at its early stages
- Among many things Umunna has been a part of in the UK politics was opposing Brexit move
Chuka Umunna is a Nigerian-British who has been a Member of Parliament in the UK since 2010. This is a proof that Nigerians are making positive impacts around the world.
According to his profile on its personal website, he was born on October 1978. While his father is Nigerian, his mother is English-Irish.
In a story that would inspire anyone, the MP said his father was 23 years old when he came to Liverpool in 1964 with just one suitcase and no money.
To survive, his father had to do menial jobs as a cook in South London and a car washer.

He said that while his father was building his business, his mother was a probation officer and had to support the family at an early stage. She would later set up a catering business before she became a lawyer.

Chuka studied law at the University of Manchester and the University of Burgundy before proceeding to Nottingham Law School.
For a decade, he worked as a solicitor in employment law as he rendered services to both employers and employees.
He has always enjoyed massive electoral support from the people he represents. A case in point was the increased major votes of 53% he got in 2015.
The Nigerian-British has also served in different capacity in the UK parliament. In the UK Brexit referendum, he said he was a leading role in the campaign for Europe to remain.
He was also the chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Social Integration, whose focus was to hold make different communities work together.

In 2019, he left the Labour Party on what he saw as a political contrast of ideas as the party could not oppose.
On sport, the politician said he is a “lifelong Crystal Palace supporter”, adding that he has been so since he was a teenager and always attended their matches.

He also an occasional radio show host and has featured many hip hop stars like Big Sean, Katty Perry, Pharrell Williams, among others.
