[center]It is quite necessary to point it out from the onset that poor annual budget allocation to education over the years by successive government has resulted in collapse of infrastructure and poor welfare condition, indiscriminate fee increment, commercialization, closure of faculties and sale of hostels in our higher institutions, brain drain, collapse of public education thereby mortgaging the future of the unborn generation.
It is no gainsaying that all of these have led to the rapid boom of substandard and unaccredited private secondary schools in every corner of Lagos and indeed the country at large. However a few among them stand head and shoulders above the rest due to their infrastructural facilities and the quality of educational services that are being provided. We have compiled a list of the top 10 among them in no particular order:

1. Dowen College: Dowen is quite endowed with well qualified staff and standard facilities. It is a co-educational college that admits boarding and day for both male and female pupils between the ages of 11-18yrs. It was established in 1997 and located at 18 Adebayo Doherty Road, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State.
2. Greensprings Schools: This is a proud member of the International School Curriculum Project (ISCP) with provision for pre-school, elementary, secondary and sixth form school for both boys and girls. It is a school of high pedigree that was established in 1985 and located at 32 Olatunde Ayoola Avenue, Anthony Lagos.
3. Corona Schools: Corona has a curriculum that is quite unique because they offer a fine blend of Nigerian, American and British style system of education. The school has adequate facilities, hardworking staff and a beautiful environment. Its secondary located at Agbara Road, Agbara Lagos is one of the seven Corona schools established between 1955 and 2008.
4. Chrisland Schools: Chrisland offer high quality education and also usually award scholarships to the best performing male and female students. The school has excellent facilities and a team of dedicated academic and non-academic staff. It was established in 1987 and located at 26, Opebi Road, Ikeja Lagos.
5. Lekki British International School: This school has affiliations with the Council of British International School (COBIS) as their curriculum is based entirely on British system of education. It is the first British boarding school in Lagos with provision for pre-school, junior and high schools all of which have the most suitable environment and atmosphere to groom children with proper traditional British upbringing and culture. It was established in 2000 and located at Victoria Arobieke Street, off Admiralty Way Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
6. Atlantic Hall: Atlantic Hall is a private co-educational secondary school that has great facilities which include hostels, specialist rooms, basketball court, handball court and a standard swimming pool. It was established in 1989 and located at Poka, Epe Lagos.
7. American International School: This is an International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) world school that offers a curriculum based on the American educational program from pre-school to grade 12. It was established in 1981 and located at Federal Estate, Victoria Island Lagos.
8. British International School: This operates a British style curriculum to students between the ages of 11-18yrs as they prepare them for IGCSE and A-Level courses in CIE. They have conducive boarding facilities for both boys and girls of different nationalities. It was founded in 2001 and located at 1 Landbridge Avenue Maroko, Oniru Private Estate, Victoria Island Lagos.
9. Meadow Hall: Meadow Hall offers a combination of the British National curriculum and Nigerian curriculum. Their facilities are very unique and they also boast of a state of the art science laboratories. It was founded in 2002 and located at Meadow Hall Way, Alma Beach Estate, Lekki Peninsula II, Lekki Lagos.
10. Grange Schools: This is among the only three schools in Nigeria that are accredited by the UK’s Independent Association of Preparatory Schools (IAPS). It operates as a co-educational, English National curriculum, Independent day school. It was founded in 1958 with the secondary school coming in 1998 and is located at Harold Shodipo Crescent, GRA Ikeja Lagos.[/center]
