Really saddening.These big lorries should ply the road from 9pm because of traffic in the morning and afternoon hours.Also vehicles should not drive closely to big lorries with container and tanks of petrol .It will help in containing this carnage.

It's the age of those trucks, general maintenance, and the unskilled lots who have no formal training about what it takes to drive a long truck.

No special lane for trucks in the UK and US. But examination to drive a truck it's like JAMB. And the age of their trucks is less than 6years after production.

Some driver act like they have more than one life the way they compete with this monsters who daily ply on our bad roads. Trucks and containers are suppose to be restricted to a particular lane or period of time to move around the town,with the pot-holes on our roads and the fact that this useful monsters are hardly tacked down properly, what is to be expected is that at any slight tilt beyond equilibrium point there is no force of pull-back to its initial position, reason the unthinkable are always bound to occur. Whether in a private car or public bus always caution your driver to pull back and come behind especially in areas with deep potholes that can facilitate such.

what do you mean by designated routes? make them make separate road for container too? how does that work.

The fact is that govt negligence on simple issues is killing Nigerians.

Its a pure luck how we even survive the chaos in our road, was in onitsha the other day trapped in a 1hr hold up, 40ft 20ft,heavy duty vehicles everywia, then flanked by small vehicles on each side, meaning just a flip from these heavy truck will result in casuality.

Until something is done abt our roads and do dualize every high way, these accidents will continue happening, its so unfortunate.

In a developed countries, there 're specific routes for big trucks.. they 're not to be seen dragging roads with smaller cars.. 2 dead bodies.. something that could have been avoided and tomorrow someone will tell me to come back home to stay.. RIP

I thought the articulated and heavy duty vehicles are supposed to have restricted schedules of movements. It's a shame lives are still sniffed out these preventable ways. These things were happening early 2000s when i was still in apapa lagos thinking by now should have been in the past. Main causes of containers tipping off are bad roads and substandard or incapacitated vehicles.

We need moral reorientation in our societies...our system is collarpsing in our very presence and nobody dares speak up? We're losing it.

I rather follow containers behind than to drive by its side - avoid side driving with containers, just follow it jejely - it may be slow in moving but just relax , better to arrive late than to be late.
