Voopoo Drag Nano Pod Kit Review By Breazy by voopoo: 3:54am On Sep 20, 2019 |
Design There's really no beating around the bush with the Drag Nano, it’s just super small. Standing at only 54.5mm x 35mm x 11mm, think of it as being about the size of a Zippo-style lighter with a tiny plastic drip tip. The body of the 750 mAh battery comes coated on one side with an attractive resin swirl finish available in a handful of colors, the rest of the body is a zinc aluminum alloy that, while appealing (including a huge "Nano" logo taking up one side), is also a bit of a fingerprint magnet. The Nano is draw-activated, meaning there are no power or fire buttons that need to be depressed for on/off functionality or to take a pull. The underside of the body has a micro-USB port for charging, a single light indicator shows battery life (green - 70-100%, blue - 35-70%, red - >35%), and the top corner opposite the drip tip is outfitted with a chain clip. That's right, chain clip. Instead of a lanyard, the Nano comes with a limited-edition silver chain that's handy if you're the type of person who wants your vape hanging from your neck at all times. The 1.0 ml pods have a resistance of 1.8 ohm. They snap directly into the body of the battery, and when removed the drip tip snaps off to expose the fill port. While this handily eliminates rubber fill plugs we've become accustomed to, we do wonder whether the design will prove leak-proof over the long run (we had no issues with our test pod). Performance We've said it before, but it bears repeating: cloud production in a modern pod system (any modern pod system) is dramatically improved over pods of old. The Nano is no exception, producing great clouds for its size. Flavor is good but not great, advanced mod users might find their liquids tasting a bit muted for their liking. Even with the big clouds, the Nano is strictly a mouth-to-lung device. There's no airflow adjustment, and because the pod is so tiny and entirely consumed by the mod there's just no way to get much of even a restricted-lung vape. For recent smoking converts, MTL adherents, and experienced vapers willing to sacrifice their preferred draw for size and convenience this could be a great device. But if big, deep draws are mandatory, this one's not for you. While VooPoo says the battery output can vary based on the charge level, we found a consistent, smooth production ranging all the way from fully charged to completely dead. 750 mAh isn't a ton of battery life, but it's still impressive for a device this small and probably enough to get even the heaviest vaper through a night out on the town. Drawbacks Everything that makes the Nano great is in some way related to its miniscule size. The same, unfortunately, is true of all the things we're less impressed with. First is the pod: 1.0 ml really isn't much capacity, even in the world of pod systems. Expect frequent refills, which has us worried about the snap on/off drip tip holding up as we mentioned before. The kit also ships with only one pod, which is less than ideal. We haven't spent enough time with the Nano to figure out how long the pod will last, but you're definitely going to need some more sooner than later, and having at least one extra in your pocket might limit the need for on-the-go fillups we know are going to be necessary due to the reduced liquid capacity. We're also going to gripe a bit about a lack of features. Granted, this is designed to be a simple, tiny device that doesn't require much in the way of maintenance so "no features" is probably a feature itself rather than a bug, but we've been spoiled with the advent of adjustable power levels and airflow controls permeating even the smallest of pod mods lately. Takeaway The DRAG NANO by VooPoo is a great choice for on-the-go vapers seeking the most diminutive vape pod system on the market. Its best features are in its design and long-lasting battery performance. However, the size also prohibits inclusion of some of the features that slightly bigger devices are starting to offer. Otherwise, the vapor and flavor production is pretty standard for the market. Who is this device for? This is for vapers that want a pod system around their neck at all times. This is for someone that fell in love with the aesthetic, want a pod that looks cool and can be used at any time, than the DRAG NANO by VooPoo is perfect. |
