ursullalinda: The onus is on vanguard to verify news before publishing as vast majority of people see whatever comes from them as genuine, otherwise, they are culpable and liable yo charge with libel and defamation of character. Let's all be guided accordingly. 1 Like |

Re: Alleged N90bn FIRS Fund: Osinbajo Demands Retraction From Vanguard by GhostWisperer: 1:17pm On Sep 25, 2019 |
The story was credited to Timi Frank who has not denied it and the newspaper has every right to publish the statement and assertion of anyone without facts. There's no law that says newspapers, bloggers and radio should publish what anyone says with facts as long as the person is quoted. Asibanjo is a disgrace to lawyers, an embarrassment to Christian. A short devilish dwarf. In saner climbs, he will give a press conference with the facts and auditing of FIRS accounts not trying to intimidate the newspaper with court case. Idiot. |

oyebolaidris: Timi Frank gave an interview with Vanguard nwespapers and insists he stands by it.The stupid VP is suing vanguard for reporting an interview they had with Timi Frank instead of suing Timi frank. How exactly did someone so dumb become a SAN and a professor of Law!!! This is Law 101.If anyone is to issue a retraction it should be Timi frank and not Vanguard newpapers |

oyebolaidris:the VP is a lawyer, a pastor and a Christian. He knows the law better than you or me. Now here's the crux, vanguard didn't report or publish that the v.president did anything. Vanguard published that Timi Frank said the VP did this. Nothing in law is wrong with that. If Timi Frank denies vanguard and vanguard doesn't have proof of that, then vanguard is on trouble. Vanguard only needs to make sure that they have hard evidence that Timi Frank gave the information. Funny how you lebel me Igbo and VP hater. You're an ignorant, presumptuous fool. 1 Like |

How about the Vanguard helping me to publicise the news that I said you raped your sister or daughter without due diligence? 1 Like |

The Nigerian news media are extremely lazy, unprofessional and basically worthless, they don't report worthy news stories or even go out to source credible news events, they just sit and monitor the social media and blogs for rumors, and gossips to publish. They don't investigate or do investigative journalism, they just peddle rumors and gossips every day like trashy tabloids. Just imagine, their standard news sources are bloggers, Reno Omokri, FFK, Frank and other lying and unsavory characters. Reputable news media shouldn't be publishing unverified and unsubstantiated claims which they do every day because they don't get sued or punished. |

GhostWisperer: In the Vanguard on-line of Thursday edition of May 4, 2017 we published a news item, titled ‘illegal oil deals: Clear yourself of corruption allegations, Group tells Sahara Energy Group You are wrong, they've retracted and apologized for sourcing fake and unverified rubbish from groups and lying characters like this frank person. This is how they publish uninvestigated and unverified stories and later apologize and retract their own failure and rubbish. |

On January 12, 2017 edition of Vanguard Online , we published a story on Bishop David O. Oyedepo of Living Faith Church Worldwide, also known as Winners’ Chapel purportedly invoking God’s curses on those fuelling Southern Kaduna killings. Another unverified story and retraction. Just imagine, what about doing basic journalism work by calling the church for verification and authentification? No, they just sit on social media and copy/paste all sorts of fake rubbish everyday. They do this every day because they don't get sued or pay damages. |

Afamed:MelesZenawi: :Lazy youth. That's why Osinbajo has decided to take the case up to the court. Timi definitely will be a party in the case eventually if vanguard does not retract the news Very Lazy Youth! 1. Vanguard published it, so it must be the first to be called to answer. 2. Vanguard either retracts or let the case go to court. In court Vanguard will have to tell the source. So Timi will be summoned. I hope Timi will not call some crap witness from Kenya like his oga did at PEPT 3. Or Vanguard retracts the statement, stating that they relied on false evidence given by Timi. Falana can rely on Vanguard's apology to sue Timi. 1 Like |

psucc: Misfired? You think Osinbajo with his legal experience will engage in a fight without strategic thinking? Have you asked yourself, how come it was only Vanguard that published such statement. Going first after Vanguard is a logical move. From Vanguard to Timi is more or less increasing the pay-back. |
