Is the number 3 special from a Christian and biblical perspective?

What does it mean if the number 3 recurs to a believer? Thanks

Hello.

Numbers in and of themselves are not special in the Bible. However, we often see a repeated use of numbers in the Bible that tells us to pay attention to what is being said. For example, the days of re-creation of the universe were seven; the Church Age is divided into seven eras from the Ephesian to the Laodicean; the Holy Spirit is seen in a seven-fold manifestation in the Temple in Heaven; there are seven seals on the Book of the Lamb's Revelation; there are seven Trumpet Judgments, seven Bowl Judgments, and seven Thunder Judgments associated with the aforementioned Revelation. There is more, those are examples. There are multiples of seven too that demand our attention in the Bible, like seventy original nations created by the Lord, seventy elders of Israel, and 490 years that were to elapse before Israel would be brought back from Exile.

The number 12 too is used in a significant manner. And so is the number 3.

The number 3 is significant because that is the number of the Godhead. It is not a magic number, mind you. It is just significant, so that when we see it in use in the Bible, we ought to pay special attention to what is being said. For example, the Most Holy Place and the New Jerusalem have three perfectly equal dimensions - their height, breadth, and length are exactly equal to each other, so that both are cubes. Incidentally, both are the Throne Room or the special dwelling place of God. This is another way that the Bible calls attention to the Trinity. It is also a way that the Bible hints at the shape of the Universe, since it too was designed to be God's Tabernacle.

Again, the number itself is not some magical thing. It is only a teaching tool in the Bible.
