Seun Kuti, son of Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti has slammed the All Progressive Congress (APC) and its National leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the continued detention of the co-convener of the “Revolution Now” movement, Omoyele Sowore.

The Grammy Award nominee who bared his mind during a TV interview on Thursday evening said it is a shame that an administration with Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu will lock somebody up when he’s the leader of the ruling APC.

Seun who also revealed that he can never accept a political appointment from the current administration, added that knowing the history of NADECO and the role Tinubu played from 1993 till date, Sowore’s continued incarceration was a bit ‘harsh’

He said; It is a shame that an administration with Ashiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu will lock somebody up when he’s the leader of that party that is ruling, for saying Revolution Now, knowing the history of NADECO, the role that he played, and where we all came from, from 1993 till date, I think it was a bit harsh.

Seun added: “The only thing I told Sowore was that he needed a bit more time to take people along.

You can’t do revolution on the people’s behalf. You have to do your revolution with the people.

His comments comes days after R&B singer turned politician, Banky W described the continued detention of Sowore, by the Department of State Security (DSS) as a clear infringement on basic human rights and a grave injustice.

The musician, who was reacting to the ruling by the Federal High Court in Abuja ordering the DSS to immediately release the pro-democracy activist on bail, said Nigeria has a way of constantly punishing innocent people.

Banky W who shared his thoughts on his Instagram page, also used the opportunity to thank those in the justice system who stood on the right side of history by doing the right thing.
