There has been a tight competition between various digital payment companies across the African continent, offering various products for consumer, merchants and banks in Africa. However, currency variance during transactions between different countries has been an issue in the market. Flutterwave allows customers to pay in their local currency.
Flutterwave is a new digital payment infrastructural technology company whose major objective is to connect Africa to the global economy by providing an end-to-end payment technology and infrastructure which enables merchants, payment service providers, pan-African banks and licensed money transfer operators to process payments option in Africa.
Flutterwave is a payment technology developed by Andela co-founders Iyin Aboyeji and a couple of other associates.
Flutterwave conducts payment services from about 68 gateways including mobile money and places them under one platform. This service is currently running and can send and receive money in over 30 African countries.



Products
Flatterwave has partnered with Visa to launch a consumer payment product for Africa called GetBarter.


Barter

Barter by flutterwave is a digital payment solution that allows users to create virtual debit cards. This is an e-wallet application that helps customers manage their credit and debit transactions, shop online as well as pay for subscription services (Apple Music, light bill, water bill, Dstv, etc.).
Flutterwave Barter helps the user in Africa will be able to create and fund virtual cards from their local bank accounts in Nigerian Naira, Ghanaian Cedis, Kenyan Shillings or US Dollars.

In 2018, Flutterwave received the ‘Best Payments Company’ award at the Ghana eCommerce Awards ceremony.
Flutterwave experienced a 550% growth in the customer base for Business (Rave) made possible by partnerships with their existing customers.
