Daily Trust’s market survey revealed that 100 kg bag of Melon seed dropped from N70,000 to N25,000, 100kg bag of Beniseed sold at N90,000 few months ago now sold at N25,000.

A 100kg bag of Maize dropped from N7500 to N4000, 100kg bag of Beans sold at N25,000 now dropped to N18,000.

The survey conducted in four major produce markets in the state revealed that prices of farm produce crashed as a result of bumper harvest recorded by farmers.
At Mutumbiiyu, Iware, Garba-Chede and Maihula produce markets, our reporter saw thousands of bags of harvested farm produce brought for sale by farmers to the Markets.
A farmer, Mallam Bello Maigari, told our reporter that farmers had witnessed a bumper harvest, a development that led to crash of prices of farm produce across the state.

And still those who retail them in cities will never reduce even kobo.

A yam seller once narrates to me how the use of hand set is making yam costly in most places, that what they do now is to bring in some lorries of yam to the market and sell as it pleases them as they will use phone to ask their agent not to bring inn anymore yam until they're through with the one they have at hand thereby creating artificial scarcity all for profits purpose.

And you believed that story, do you mean the agents and farmers who supply the agents don't need money? All an agent would do is to supply another in that same market or another close to it, most of these produce are perishable and can't be left for long because one trader wants to create an artificial scarcity

Yes you can't bring it in on your own as they're in union in most market with strict rulls and regulations.

With the way things are now, even if a mudu of Garri is N10 today, most Nigerians are poorer that they will still go to bed hungry.

How much is a bag of rice now compared to 2015

It can be better. Nigerian politicians (APC/PDP) should govern well.

If you can no longer afford Rice, you can eat Yam.

Inflation (rise in Price of Goods and Services) is a universal economic concept that happens globally.

Keep wailing.

The agents would take it to other markets in the same LGA or state or elsewhere, how would you tell a farmer who just harvested his tomato, green vegetable etc not to sell because someone wants to make a kill?
You want his produce to spoil and he'd make less profit, he'd simply supply others and customers from the other markets would be forced to go to the new location because of the lower price.

Some dummies will still come on here to ascribe the crash of commodity to Buhari shrewd economic policies.
