The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has re-arraigned a former governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam, at the Federal High Court Abuja.

Senator Suswam was re-arraigned on Monday on a nine-count charge bordering on money laundering alongside a former Benue commissioner of finance, Omadachi Oklobia.

The former governor is being accused of diverting N3.1 billion from the proceeds of the sale of shares owned by Benue Government since 2015.

They both denied the charges and were granted bail on terms earlier granted by Justice Ahmed Mohammed after they were arraigned before him in 2015.

Justice Okon Abang asked counsels concerned to cooperate with the court, warning that he would not entertain any frivolous applications for adjournment.

Abang took over the trial of Suswam, following the withdrawal of Justice Mohammed.

Mohammed had cited a publication by Sahara Reporters which accused him of having been compromised to give Suswam a soft landing as his reason to withdraw from the case.

Justice Abang adjourned the case until October 29, 30 and 31.
