Ihiagwa is a small town in Imo state, south east Nigeria not too far from the state capital, Owerri. other towns such as Obinnze and Eziobodo are also towns located in its environs.

Ihiagwa is also a place where the aboriginal fulani people call home. their presence there can be traced to 5000 BC from the archeological findings in that area. the economy of the people include farming; which also include crop production, as well as animal husbandry. their produce is mainly consumed by the state and also neighbouring states particularly Abia state where the hides and skins are often taken to the shoe factories in Aba.

despite the immense contribution of the Ihiagwa fulani to the state, they do not have a representative at the Imo state House of Assembly in Owerri. perhaps this is because of the relatively small size of the people and their ancestoral land compared to the igbo majority in the state.

in democracies, indeed, majority carries the vote while minorities can only have their say. but it is not out of place if the Imo state government, through the Traditional Rulers council of the state, find a way to atleast recognise the plight of these people by giving them a first class chieftancy title Emir of Ihiagwa Emirate, Sarkin Ihiagwa...

op pls try again - this time take it to katsina! cheesy

While you are at it pls remember to ask for recognition for the aboriginal igbo people of sokoto, Kano, kaduna, Niger, taraba, plateau and gombe - these igbos have been living in these states since 1669 and they make up at least 30% of the population of these states.

its so unfair that up till these present time, despite their large population and huge contribution to the IGR of these states, they still do not have any representation in the governance of these states talk less of them having representation in the national assembly.

such injustice should be corrected and their huge contributions to the development of these states should be appreciated by including them in the political affairs and governance of these states by giving them some local governments to headed by them - for instance sabon gari kano should be rename 'obodo-ofu lga and jos metropolis should be renamed onodu ndi-igbo lga, etc as well as giving them representations in the state and federal legislatures.
