How is this the fault of other countries that you have managed to make your country a shithole.
You gave them Money so what?
The fact that you gave them money means you had more than enough to build your own country instead of using the opportunity, you squandered the money and you are blaming them for your foolishness. Is it Mugabe or Nelson Mandela that asked you to not invest in good infrastructure. Make una stop to dey reason like cows abeg

The mistake of the past, making Africa the Centerpiece of our foreign policy instead of putting our money where our mouth was like America always does.
I don't care if the rest of Africa burns. Our goodwill should begin at home. Imagine if we had channeled this profligacy- that's how I see it- into human development.
That foreign policy failed abjectly. It's time to have an honest and pragmatic review of that Afrocentric, but lopsided foreign policy.

Nigeria did so much for africa and got nothing but pain and ridicule in return. We also allowed religion, ethnicity, hatred and jealousy divide us so much that it became difficult for us to genuinely grow

The Murtala/Obasanjo era is often viewed as the golden era of Nigeria’s foreign policy. This was the era that Nigeria stood up to the Western powers and fought hard to ensure an end to colonialism and apartheid in Africa.

Nigeria’s first and only Prime Minister, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, had declared that Africa was the centre point of Nigeria’s foreign policy and this was brought to life during this era.

Nigeria gave huge sums of money to liberation movements in Angola, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe. It gave fighter jets to the MPLA in Angola, facilitated military training for ANC activists from South Africa and provided safe refuge to liberation fighters and activists from all the southern African countries.

Nigeria was made an honorary member of the Frontline States due to its activities that were geared to ensuring an end to white minority rule in southern Africa. The Frontline States group were a group of countries that shared borders with or were in close proximity to South Africa. These countries suffered from destabilisation campaigns and military incursions by the South African military. Nigeria did not share a border with South Africa, but it was an honorary member of the group and it hosted meetings of the group because of its financial, diplomatic and military support to the members of the group.

This thread is about one of those acts that Nigeria did to support the liberation movement.

If not for the internet most people don't know that there were some northerners who protected Igbo's during the coup.

If you are reading all these one sided books you would never know the real truth
Historically igbos have never had problems with Hausas , it's the Fulanis that sometimes sow seed of discord.

we had their properties protected in the north, they came back after the war to claim them . This was done by the owners directly or their children who the community could recognise. Even in PH, their properties were seized.

There were many students from South African countries in Federal Colleges and Universities on FG scholarship in those days. They were camped and cared for during summer holidays.

Those were glorious years for Nigerians indeed. Solid well thought out and effective external affairs policies. smiley

The mighty has not fallen. Britain knows not to cross the red line with Nigeria. They learnt it the hard way.

Where did you get the idea that Nigeria did not invest in infrastructure?
Most of the infrastructure you still see standing (even many roads/bridges) were built in the same era.
