A logo  is an image that symbolizes your business. But did you know there are 7 different types of logos?

So your logo is more like what gives your brand a face. Before people use your brand or access your service, they see your logo. So a logo design goes a long way to define your business.
Now majorly we have seven different types of logo designs...

1) MONOGRAM or LETTERMARKS

Monogram logos or lettermarks are logos that consist of letters, usually brand initials. IBM, CNN, HP, HBO… Noticing a pattern, yes? They’re the initialisms of a few famous businesses with rather lengthy names. With 2 or 3 words to remember, they’ve each turned to using their initials for brand-identification purposes.

Now some banks and huge brands make use of this style of logo design, it utilizes fonts and very few shapes in some cases. So when you're designing a brand that has a long name, you abbreviate the initials and do a lettermark (just kidding, your choice anyways...)

2) WORDMARKS

Since I said earlier that lettermarks are for logos with long names, where their initials are used as abbreviations and then in turn utilized to design a lettermark.
A wordmark is similar to a lettermark, a wordmark or logotype is a font-based logo that focuses on a business’ name alone. Think Visa and Coca-Cola. Wordmark logos work really well when a company has a succinct and distinct name. Google’s logo is a great example of this.
So a wordmark is mostly required when you have a really dope name, you gotta make the logo really dope...

3) PICTORIAL MARK
A pictorial mark (sometimes called brand mark or logo symbol) is an icon—or graphic-based logo. It’s probably the image that comes to mind when you think “logo”: the iconic Apple logo, the Twitter bird, the Target bullseye.
A pictorial mark is simply using a shape(graphic based symbol) to represent a brand, it has to be really unique and simple to drive home the point.

4) ABSTRACT LOGO MARKS
An abstract mark is a specific type of pictorial logo. Instead of being a recognizable image—like an apple or a bird—it’s an abstract geometric form that represents your business.
It is that logo that is birthed from an abstract thought, the shape or pictorial mark does not always match the logo name...

5) MASCOTS

Ever seen brand identities like our very own O.B.O logo mark, skibii's own floated label, broad shaggi logo mark in his videos, they're all examples of a mascot logo.
Mascot logos are logos that involve an illustrated character. Often colorful, sometimes cartoonish, and most always fun, the mascot logo is a great way to create your very own brand face...

6) COMBINATION MARK

A combination mark is a logo comprised of a combined wordmark or lettermark and a pictorial mark, abstract mark, or mascot.
It makes use of graphic or geometric shapes and words.
It is a combination of either wordmark or lettermark...etc

7) THE EMBLEM

N.Y.S.C, E.F.C.C, UNIBEN, The Nigerian federal govt seal are all emblem logos.
An emblem logo consists of font inside a symbol or an icon; think badges, seals and crests. These logos tend to have a traditional appearance about them that can make a striking impact, thus they are often the go-to choice for many schools, organizations or government agencies.
