A Zimbabwean pastor, Philip Chipato has allegedly ordered members of his congregation to divorce their spouses, who have stopped attending church services.

According to B-Metro, Chipato whose church is located in Mahatshula North, Bulawayo encouraged married male congregants to divorce their wives who no longer attend church services.

A pastor who requested anonymity told B-Metro, that Chipato preached a series of sermons bashing married women who had stopped coming to church. It was further revealed that Chipato specifically ordered one of his pastors, one Midzi, to divorce his wife Vimbai, who had stopped attending church services.

The source said, “Vimbai stopped coming to church and after about two weeks Bishop Chipato started to teach a series of lessons demonising married partners who would have stopped coming to church. He also ran a series of sermons preaching against such truant members while encouraging their partners to divorce them.”

It has been revealed that Cleopas had indeed divorced his wife and is now cohabiting with another woman.

Although Chipato has denied issuing such directive, sources at the church said many members of the congregation have left due to the teaching of their pastor.
