Typical Nigerian herd mentality.... 'it is the east African yada yada...' while those who took hundreds of millions out of their cookie jars for high altitude training facilities and programs in Plateau and Admawa states to head off such a thing have left the building.

Nigerians have one unique characteristic. One of attention deficit. So much so that it is all too easy to maladminster, steal and misappropriate with dizzying levels of impuntiy. When the high altitude program was being mooted, what didn't we hear, lofty promises of athletic dominace only if the money was made avilable.

Well the money eventually came and.... two decades later we are back where we are...purring at east African dominance yet again..

Honestly if we cannot hold our leaders to account but insist on hoping for accountability and waiting for promises of performance we will only be the waiters, janitors and butlers to the world of achievers out there taking all the glory and pride while we wail and groan.

There is nothing of positive endevour which we dominate anymore. Nothing the world looks up to Nigeria for anymore.
