Strong 2.1 (High CGPA) helps you if you are applying for a sholarship and your transcripts are requested, some fancy ivy league colleges have Post Graduate admission policies that rejects weak CGPA even if you have 2.1

Lots of us know this, my question is, why do they see the need to keep telling everyone who cares to listen they nearly made a First class. It is already a 2.1 (a strong one ). That should suffice when asked.

Bro calm down, the early you know you ain't good for first class the better it is for you... struggling to make first class implies you are in 2.1 category, calculating you CGPA to be 4.51 means you are only good for 2.1 reason been that for you to be a well deserved first class you have to be around 4.6 and above... unilorin alumni will understand... if you are between 4.5 it implies you are good for 4.49 below but your extra effort fetch you that 0.01... On the other end... first class, second class upper/lower or pass doest determine your wealth or success in life... in actual sense people with first class always job hunt after graduating believing their certificate will speak for them( truthfully they can secure a good paying job) while those with pass will shine their eyes and be innovative(because of their low grade) eventually they may end up been a job creator and at the end be the boss....

Those that made first class to be from 4.50 to 5.00 are not stupid.

if you studied mechanical engineering in a federal university in the southern part of Nigeria, you will understand that anybody that graduated with 4.48 is actually a first class material, and would have possibly clinched 4.98 if he studied accounting, biz admin, etc.


Have you wondered why engineering students dominate in Nigerian top banking positions in the past Because they always pass the aptitude test more than the arts and social science graduates.

The only people that can rock shoulder with Mech engine grads in Nigeria are MBBS grads

I have been to few of the social sciences exams and even many other art department exams outside my institution back then and their exam I finish it 20mins ahead of normal time in several occasions I helped some folks seat for exam, and they always get As, and I do wonder why they sweat so much with their course cos u can finish all their textbooks in a matter of weeks

If you had done enough, you wouldn't need to blame a lecturer for 0.02. If you're a first class person, your personality, not certificate, would distinguish you.

I would have at least given him 5000 naira to change his faded uniform

To me all Engineering are useless as long as it is in Nigeria. There are more jobless Engineering graduates than any other course. The average Nigerian Engineering Student lack practical experience of the course he is studying. Imagine an Electrical engineering student not able to fix basic electrical problems. Most can't disembark and couple engines. In fact where are the industries to absolve them after graduation.

I feel your anger sha, it's saddening, same way it is to have a 69 in a 3unit course I'd just prefer 4.3 to 4.48 although I'm sure in most unis, they'd boost up that 0.02

please explain what you mean by this cause I don't understand don't compare chemical with mechanical engineering? Is it thermo, fluid mech, unit operation, engine drawing that you did that they didn't do? Aside machines and a few other things...
