It is not easy to route out corruption in a country of 200 million people where kickbacks , smuggling , counterfeit and embezzlement have been part of everyday life for more than half a century. Some leaders wouldn' t even think about or dare tackle an issue they would refer to as a lost cause. But general Buhari took on the battle, held the ground and reined in the mess. He closed the borders with Benin and sent a clear message to crooked politicians who dont see any difference between public funds and their own pockets. This is unprecedented in Africa and the rest of the world. Curiously some people in here want to see him gone. They want business as usual. |
