2019 INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD,DAPO ADESINA ADVOCATE PROTECTION AGAINST ABUSE

Professor Ademola Adesina Memorial Foundation joins the world to celebrate international day of the girl child today.

President/Founder of the organization, Mr. Dapo Ademola-Adesina through Adebayo Fajinmi,Online Editor to the foundation, in a press statement issued to newsmen in Osogbo today ,said,it is a significant day that calls for urgent attention in a male dominated society like ours where abuse of girl's right keeps caressing us like a slut, seeking liaison.

While lauding the United Nations for deeming it fit to highlight and address the challenges girls are facing and promoting girl's empowerment and the fulfilment of their human rights, he advocates that government at all levels must establish laws and policies that would safeguard their rights against abuses.

"The rate at which people abuse girl's right in this part of the world is outrightly condemnable. Perhaps,this was as a result of our norms and values that have placed high premium on male child.

"Which ever way, a child is a child. Like normal human beings,a girl child has a great potential. Therefore,abusing a girl's right must be seen as wickedness to humanity. I thereby call on our policy makers and law makers to take drastic steps to promoting girl's empowerment and curb the humiliation,that befits only animal, being unleashed on girl child," he said.
