I will pick the interest later in life when less occupied. My driving force is the guy who learned to code in six months, identified a bug in Facebook’s code and was awarded millions of dollars. I will get there one day. If the same luck doesn’t shine on me I will create the opportunity by hacking a profitable business.

A year plus 5 months . I am even lacking behind self because my laptop developed faults, for like 2 months I could't code and plus Nepa issue . I would have gone far .Nigeria is really very frustrating but i know i will surely live this shit hole country .

I also like programming. I don't know where to start from. Programs that work on Artificial Intelligence, robotics, industrial application etc. is my interest. Where do I start?
python language holds a higher stake in that area . Go for python since you will easily access like mind when you encounter problem.

Boredom, I needed something that utilized my mind properly, something challenging yet rewarding. Before I picked up programming I found it difficult to sleep, always jotting down ideas in the middle of the night, sometimes I jolt out of a dream with an idea. Then I spend weeks beating myself up over my inability to materialze those ideas.

Before being a programmer, I was an artist, a fashion designer, a graphic designer, a script writer. Non of this things stuck. When I have achieved proficiency to a certain level, I'll just get bored and not satisfied.

I needed something that was dynamic, infinite, complex, problematic and has no end. Something that made my mind seem small.

Programming offered me that, each time I marvel at my own inabilities and limitations, programming makes me laugh at my own self.

And I also needed a skillset that can allow me venture into any area of life, be it medicine, teaching, engineering, fashion etc. Programming is the one thing that isn't limited by profession or discipline just your imagination and experience.

Those are the reasons why I choose to be a programmer.

It's not about luck, he learnt to code in six months, that's around a rudimentary skillset, meaning his mind is still fully creative and free to roam and consider things a professional might overlook. It's like the mind of a child. He will see things people in the field that has spent years will not see, simply because their mind as already been conditioned over years of training to focus on the big picture, the end goal.
That there is the definition of a bug when it comes to programming. Someone with an overview sees thing better than someone on a ground level.

It's not luck, it's just one of the things, games the human mind plays.

The reviews actually made me sub for Paul's course, if I'd known Tim's course was more comprehensive, I would have gone for it. I'm really gonna appreciate it if you'll help me with the beginner's tutorial bro

I developed interest in data analysis after graduating. I've used statistical software such as STATA, E-VIEWS, and SPSS. Then, I wanted to learn more. That was when I found out about Python for data science. I want to generate insight for people from messy data as well as predict likely outcomes in the future for business effectiveness and efficiency [quote author=shegzhkn post=83097281]

lol, oga is that one code?
but seriously even good programmers fail algorithms tests, there are good programmers, software developers that are horrible at algorithms
i just read earlier today that 90% of programmers fail the fizzbuzz test in interviews.
but those programmers will have very impressive resumes.

Algorithms is where cs students are supposed to impress, because that's what they do in school, how to solve computer science problems, regardless of language, though in reality algorithms are not so much of a worry. They are mostly used as a filtering process at interviews and if you are aspiring to work at large corporations like the facebook, google, microsoft, amazon, ibm, adobe, intel e.t.c or companies that produce mission critical software, like aircraft, or ship software, or military/defense software (navigation, control e.t.c). (These one will require that you are a cs/maths grad with cum laude before you even start talking code)

That's true o. Although I passed thag fizzbuzz thing the first time I attempted it using Javascript grin

A lot of newbies are hooked in the "Tutorial Purgatory" as someone named it recently.
We spend a lot of our time on tutorials instead of doing meaningful things with our codes.

I still gat my eyes on Google sha, even if na short Internship cheesy

use w3schools.com
Start from the first tutorial of JavaScript to the end. Don't mind the rigor. Its worth it at the end. Just open a your editor (preferably visual studio code, install pluggings like HTML boilerplate, CSS peek, open in browser, and live server) and practice while you read. You should have a community of friends and mentor that do JavaScript because its very confusing. But focus on vanilla JavaScript. That means JavaScript with no libraries like jquery. When you are done witg w3schools, use YouTube videos to confirm you are up to speed with ES6 codes. (Just basic ones) by this time im sure you would have started enjoying it.

boss abeg help me check this one waiting I do wrong here

Its like playing chess.. Have been doing it for the love of it.
Solving complex problems but never using it for anything..
Once a problem is solved I get bored..and start looking for another.. I dont think I have used the same process twice..

yeah! your right but the relationship between C/C++ is not like other though! that's why C++ ide always allow C/C++ code. in fact I'll say C++ is C with Oop (object oriented programming)
C is the grandfather and ASM is the ancestor grin
Agreed, C++ is closest to C.
