THE FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF ABUJA HAS
INCREASED ITS ACCEPTANCE FEE (FROM #4, 500
TO 30,000) officially confirmed.

The students union president,in the person of comr.Sulaiman Rabiu, aka aluta Standard first confirmed this to UNIABUJA CORNER on a social media platform WhatsApp interview on Saturday.

“What we have woken up to is rather unexpected, shocking and challenging.

This cannot stand. I have called emergency meeting on this with all SUG executives and all Faculty presidents and we shall release a comprehensive report after,” he said.

Reports have been made to inquire the amount added to the acceptance, he told our correspondent it “varies across different faculties”.

According to a screenshot obtained by UNIABUJA CORNER, the increase for the acceptance fee of new admitted students was increased from N4,500 to N30,000. Reports states : It is yet to obtain the comprehensive list of the new acceptance fee. Meanwhile, students have stormed the social media
to demand a reversal.

The cost of education there must be one of the cheapest.

30000 naira is 83 dollars.

Add the fact that universites, according to the 2009 ASUU//FG agreement , need as much as N1.5 trillion naira in ADDITIONAL funding to work well.

The truth is, our universites are broke. Yet we would be exepcting universites to do miracles with fees less than $200 per annum. And acceptance fee less than $84 dollars??

Yes, our papas went to school for free.....at a time when getting into unviersity was much harder and when a 'big' university had less than 5000 students enrolled. And when the funds was enough. Now, everybody wants to go to unviersity, and our education budget is about 130bn naira. Meanwhile, we probably need N3 trillion naira per annum for JUST UNIVERSITES.

Unless oil goes up to $150 per barrel , expect no changes. Increases are going to keep on happening.

Bro, if you check how much you paid for school fees and compare it to what is obtainable now, you'll know greed has overtaken the common sense of many Nigerians, even the 'educated' aren't left out.

Such increment are no longer new in Nigerian Universities.
UI acceptance as at last N35000, FUTA N40000 and others like that, so if UniAbuja increases to N30000 is nothing new. it's now the trend.
once you're aspiring for admission into higher institution s in Nigeria, then you should be prepare to spend good money.
That is where we found ourselves as regards education in Nigeria.

God help Nigeria!
