kid so u think local rice is cheap, local rice here is btw 19k to 21500,y not add 3k and buy foreign rice before u lose one of ur teeth, just an advise though
by lose one of ur teeth u mean? U guys will just be carrying false info, I will put foreign and local rice side by side and even u can't tell one from the other. Ofada rice can be stoney cus it's made manually, but the local rice that is bagged, if they don't tell u u won't even know physically, it's only foodie like me that can tell the difference after cooking... So Biko stop carrying false info.

If u have eaten or seen it before you will be impressed..

About the bother closure, I feel it fine our crave for foreign things in this country is just crazy .

Nigeria is self sufficient in beans production and can even export, if bother closure can force it on rice too then it's fine....

After all, I was only hearing Nigeria produce local rice for years but never saw one, but the bother closure has force it into market. So if u want foreign then u shud pay more.

is it by force to eat local rice,I guess Buhari eats uncle benz rice,we don't have d facility to produce standard rice in mass,no country has it all, foreign countries import yam, cassava from us which we can conveniently handle, and they export rice to us,again u cant have it all,we are not ripe for this, imagine what it will cost Toyota to produce thier cars here,to do this Toyota will have to provide thier own security, electricity, raw materials etc,if they do this ,to buy a locally produced Toyota Camry 1989 model will cost us nothing less than 18m naira knowing fully well that if we import a 2005 toyota Camry we will get it at a cost of 12m,I studied economics, most kids here shouting bubu and d bubu himself knows nothing about comparative economics, including oshoomole ,its d poor masses I pity, how did we get here.pls nobody should mention China here,I know d history of China and what d govt put in place before they blocked thier borders .life is give and take,u cant take and take or give and give.u cant have it all
oga if u can't buy local, pay extra and buy foreign.. ppl like u are why we are where we are, ppl who keep saying it can't be done, we are not rope for it, we don't have the capacity, we are not like China.. have u even eaten or seen the local rice before? U say u study economics really?

I'm waiting for it to get to ₦50,000. So Nigerians will remember that a time it was when rice was a ceremonial food and not a staple.

If we want to make it a staple food, then let's farm it.
Let's also farm APPLE, ELECTRICITY, RULE OF LAW, STANDARD ROAD, WATER, STANDARD HEALTH,

The only problem now is our own people who are constantly increasing the price of local rice in the farm/market. Why? We understand why the price of foreign rice is increasing, but must the price of local rice follow bumper to bumper? The FG has to do something about it like in the olden days or like the price of petrol
Re: How Much is a Bag Of Rice Now In Your Area?? by Halo22: 8:41am On Oct 13, 2019
If the locally processed rice goes as high as 20k per bag, then what's the difference? We are still where we are, our leaders should stop deceiving us. A bag of local rice should not exceed 10k....kini.

You are as dumb as your comment!
Nigeria has never been dependent on importation of food, we are self sustained on over 80% of our food need.
We don't import fufu, garrii, okro, pepper, egusi, palmoil, vegetable oil, salt, ogbono, groundnut, beens, maize, tapioca, wheat, vegetable, tomatoes, onions, chicken, beef, mutton, goat meat, cotton seed, bitter leaf, alubor, amala, tuwo, ugu leaf, banga, yam, sweet potato, cocoyam, iru, ogiri, dawadawa, etc

If importing rice can beat down the price to at least N10k, then we need to import.

Why r Nigerians so greedy?
Before local rice was cheap, just cus of border closure local rice is now competing in price with smuggle rice.
So how has this buharinomics affect the common man?

Well, you're as shallow as your submission revealed. Were Nigerians buying locally produced rice in the markets before? No, because we've unusual taste for imported goods.
All these imported rice, which country got import duties on them? Benin Republic. Thereafter, smuggled into the country by unscrupulous elements which I'm not going to accuse you of being part. That hurts and bleed our economy.
Talking about comparative advantage, where did you see the report that said Nigeria couldn't have comparative advantage in rice production? We could have, and this is the starting point. People are now buying local rice in the market unlike before. That's a positive outlook. All what the FG needs is to support and encourage more people to embrace rice farming until we're self sufficient. No pain no gain. People like you always forget that this is how it is usually looks like in the beginning.

You must live under a rock sir. Nigeria is largely dependent on importation.

Just so you know from that your ridiculous list we import the following a lot too...

Palm oil a lot, vegetable oil, pepper, tommatoes,Afang a lot of afang too...chicken a whole lot...eggs as egg powder.add milk too, salt and the list is endless..

We will grow our own rice in Nigeria and ban imports entirely shortly. Our 100 million strong yoiths will be the new millonaires championing the cause.

For thise who want cheap loval rice vist shoprote and spar if in the cities.Go directly to the farms if in the subburbs.A bag of unprocessed rice in an ogun state farm can be bought for as low as 4k.f
#fact

If you want parboiled processed rice.

Bro are you serious? Chinese people love foreign things. They hate domestically produced things and think of them as low quality. The only reason china doesn't consume more foreign goods is high tarrif and the Chinese govt blocks all foreign digital companies but even then they consume a lot of foreign stuff.

If the above is not the case but that you trully suffer from ignorance may this your sin against our nation be forgiven.

The law of demand and supply will take over rice will be cheaper as local supply increases

I repeat go to shoprite mamas pride a local brand has as little as 1kg bags sold for as cheap as 540 naira .Thats about the equivalent of your 1 module in the market you buy for 600 naira.

You are the ignorant saboteaur
