Cristiano Ronaldo has insisted he does not have an obsession when it comes to breaking records, MySportDab reports.

Ronaldo scored his 700th career goal on Monday night as he netted a penalty for Portugal in their defeat to Ukraine.

Ronaldo is the all time leading scorer in the Champions League with 127 goals while the Juventus star is also Real Madrid’s all-time highest goalscorer.

But he insists he is not focused on targets with his country's defeat taking some shine off of his achievement.

"Not just anyone can reach this figure," Ronaldo said.

“Thank you to my team-mates, colleagues and coaches who have helped me to become the player I am.

"I am disappointed that we didn't win, but proud of the team.

"How many records do I have? I don't know. I have to enjoy the moment and thank those who helped me reach this impressive mark.

"The last time I played at this ground I won the Champions League, a beautiful moment that is in the past. Today we played well but couldn't win.

"Records come naturally - I don't go looking for them; records are looking for me! Without having an obsession, they happen naturally."

Ronaldo is already sixth on the list of all-time goalscorers with Muller next in his sights on 735.

Josef Bican, Romario, Pele and Ferenc Puskas are the only others to have racked up 700 strikes or more.

Despite the defeat to Ukraine, Portugal remain second in Group Gwith 11 points from six games.
