Nigerians that celebrate traitors are eitheq inherently silly or collaborators.

That is way too simplistic a viewpoint. What if all the possible candidates are all crooks and scoundrels? Do you do nothing? No, you hold your nose and pick the one you dislike the least. Very rarely will you get someone you completely love as a leader. But if he is better than the options available, what else can one ask for?

Are we saying if not for General Obasanjo there wouldn't be GSM in Nigeria?!

Frustrated people vent their anger on "leaders" everywhere. Bush had a shoe thrown at him, Berlusconi suffered 2 broken teeth, Blair had shoes and eggs thrown at him.

I'm curious to know if any of the blows on our ex-president met their target? grin
Re: Drama As Man Attacks Obasanjo At Lagos Airport by oderemo(m): 2:01am On Nov 09, 2010
those celebrating obj achievements should ans. One question, y is the country still in shambles!?
Its simple the man left a legacy of questionable democrazy where average nigerian still bel.his/her votes still dont count.
If in 8 yrs he stole all nigeria moni but left a sound political syst. Where politicians become servants rather than lords , i personally would not mind.
But what do we have, 3rd term agenda, yar ar dua, mrs ayoka in ekiti, gbenga lord daniel of ogun, etc. How long to get it right?
And someone here talking of gsm, wwhic is most important universal adult surfrage or gsm.

Lmao.hahahahahaha.Very good for those useless Nigerian leaders that think they are invisible and untouchable.More of this please and let them not have peace or rest in their lives. If they steal and deprive their people their security should not be assured.I hope people emulate this brave guy and spread the violence to those NASS nutjobs.
Re: Drama As Man Attacks Obasanjo At Lagos Airport by koruji(m): 2:47am On Nov 09, 2010
This is beside the point. If anyone should plan a successful attack on any current or past leader of a respectable country they must not expect to be able to get close to him without considerable force. That this could happen in the midst of all that is going on speak volumes about the vulnerability of Nigeria.

Now they will be calling the guy a mad-man. Given that the president was in Lagos at the same time and the guy had attempted to go into the presidential area of the airport, there is more to this story. OBJ may have just been in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Shame on his security details - they all deserve to be fired!

Why don't we just ostracize all these people whose feet are quick to do evil.

Re: Drama As Man Attacks Obasanjo At Lagos Airport by amor4ce(m): 3:02am On Nov 09, 2010
Violence is not the way, no matter what.

Actually, we Nigerians should examine ourselves and repent from all the bad things we do to ourselves. We deserve what we get and thus should not refrain from taking responsibilities for our actions. Blaming OBJ and others is a was of trying to externalize our shortcomings and give personalities to these faults. Whether we like it or not, OBJ is still a product of our putrid society. There is no way I know of in this universe that each one of us can avoid taking responsibility for our actions and the earlier we start the better.

Will it be far-fetched if I say that every Nairalander knows somebody who is selfish, corrupt, and without love for his neighbor? Let us instead check ourselves and having mastered ourselves seek to help others, and eventually apply ostracism if that does not work. Yes, ostracism to our fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, children, uncles, aunties, nieces, in-laws, cousins, associates, colleagues, friends, and the likes, for the sake of Nigeria and Nigerians.

Thats right! Thats to show all of us how timid many Nigerians are. What is gsm for christ sake? I have seen many Nigerians boasting of little things that are suppose to be necessities.

Look at the state of our beautiful blessed country Nigeria and can anyone tell me why any of past leaders (looters) take praises if not punches. Some months ago, australian prime minister got bashed with rotten egg. During Bush's visit to Iraq, shoe was thrown at him.

Why should the guy who attacked obasanjo be evil and obansanjo himself a saint. Nigerians should learn how to stand up for their rights and say enough of these mediocre short sighted leaders.

If Nigeria, a country blessed with intellectuals and enormous resources cannot have a good life and condusive environment matched with those of the western world, then something is not right somewhere. And I dont think that that common man on the street stressing to make a point is to be blamed.

Brave Guy, silly move

Just because Bush had a shoe thrown at him, or Blair got pelted with raw eggs doesnt make it right.

"Former President Obasanjo, then hopped into his car, a Toyota Landcruiser special utility vehicle, SUV, sandwiched between two excort vehicles with his security aides"

http://www.vanguardngr.com/2010/11/drama-as-man-attacks-obasanjo-at-lagos-airport/

"Obasanjo who was in a BMW 4x4 four-wheel-drive that was second in the line of about four-vehicle convoy was attacked as his vehicle was just driving out of the lounge"

http://www.thisdayonline.com/

With the ease with which the attacker was allaged to have assessed OBJ in his "car",and the fact that our journalists appear not to know what car he was driving in,I suspect it could be one of 'em keke marwa that neither have doord nor windows, hence the attacker had such easy assesss to the ex presido

I'd gladly sponsor you if the target is IBB and all those lawmakers that have proposed criminal life benefits for IBB and the other idiots that ruled this country as military men.Shame on the so-called democrats that obviously don't know their right from their left

If this story is true then, then any of our leader could be killed cheaply by any rogue. The guy must must be mentally ill. What will beating up an old man and ex-president do to you? It will only put you in a terminating trouble
Re: Drama As Man Attacks Obasanjo At Lagos Airport by wales(m): 6:30am On Nov 09, 2010
This is what the average Nigerian encounters on a daily basis. I really wonder what the IG, CP, CP Aiport command/Default and other security agencies are doing.Anything and i mean anything could have happened there. The state of insecurity in this country is alarming. This reckless abandonment of security unfortunately has now become the order of the day and nobody is held accountable. I’m sure baba wwould have given the guy some knuckles “Eshe agbe. Ishora logun agba.” Baa wa
Re: Drama As Man Attacks Obasanjo At Lagos Airport by slap1(m): 7:25am On Nov 09, 2010
According to Daily Sun, the man was beaten so hard that he collapsed twice. He was also said to have opened the door to where OBJ was seated before security pounced on him. This is a shame. Had he a gun, OBJ would have been a dead man.

You people may not like what am saying, but its the truth. Obasanjo dwarfs any other presido we ever had and am not yoruba lest you accuse me of ethnic sentiments. Who else;
willingly handed over power in naija?
Fought and got debt relief for us?
Reduced the fear of coups by retiring senior army officers?
Introduced pension reforms that is working now?
Brought about jobs through banks recapitalization?
Initiated the sale of dead corporations like Nitel and Hilton?
Gave us GSM (na your papa bring am before?)
wated to sell NEPA also and we refused and called him thief, now we are suffering.
had the best economic team.
Ensured Nafdac was working.
Equipped the airport safety systems.

In world standards, he perrformed below par, but place him against any of our previous leaders, he will stand tall. For those shouting GSM was not an achievement, how were you making calls before ojb came?
Learn to respect those that tried. Now hurl your stones.

Only a mad wont kill OBJ if he had the chance. I think I understand why they pronounced him mad.
That man needs to go away. His presence is stunting the growth of my state. We need a smarter mad man to finish the job ASAP!

Never knew Obj had this many fans. See the way people are defending him. Actually my problem with him is after inflictin pain on us for 8yrs,he couldnt leave us in peace but had to force a very sick individual on us. That's wicked!

Seriously, what is the rationale in violently attacking someone with armed escort? Sounds to me like a suicide attack gone wrong for the attacker.
