This is the moment Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton arrived in style for a red carpet event on Tuesday at the national monument in Islamabad in a tricycle.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who are currently on a five-day official royal visit, arrived in Pakistan on Monday.



Prince William And Kate Middleton arrived at the hilltop monument in a tricycle painted with the Pakistani and UK flags.

The British High Commissioner to Pakistan in Islamabad hosted the special reception. The Pakistani government hopes their visit will boost the country’s image as a tourist and business destination.



The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s preferred mode of transportation is officially known as an auto rickshaw. The auto rickshaw is a motorized version of the cycle rickshaw.

It is called by different names around the world including, Tuk-Tuk, Keke Marwa, Keke Napep,  tricycle, etc.

The three-wheeler is widely used in Egypt, Gaza, South Africa, Sudan and in all Nigerian cities. Bajaj Auto in India is the world’s largest Keke manufacturer.



Motoshine tricycle is another three-wheeler version on Nigerian roads. It has doors to protect passengers from falling out. This doors will also shield its occupants during heavy downpour.

The tech-filled Keke features a front and reverse cameras. It also has cooling fans to increased ventilation.

All these features are in place to reduce the rate of accidents caused by Keke Napep and motorcycles in the country.

The Motoshine tricycle cost ₦990k, compared to ₦700k that Keke Marwa/Napep goes for in Nigeria.

Motoshine tricycles are currently the most luxurious and safest Kekes on the Nigerian road.
