Nigeria Debt to GDP ratio is less than 20%, Singapore is 150%, lagos internally generated revenue is $2bn yearly while its debt stands at $1bn... so Lagos debt is very healthy so is Nigeria debt, just that other state are borrowing to pay salary while Lagos uses its for economically feasible project like BRT and Lagos boat service that people can enjoy and pay for

Its disgusting that Danfos still ply Lagos. I know stopping them might make some people unemployed, but that's why Nigeria is big. We have 37 States.

If Lagos doesn't want danfo, you are free to relocate to Ogun or Benin or Kogi
Touch Danfo And get removed from office. Ask Ambode How market

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has announced the acquisition of 800 new BRT buses.

The governor made the announcement via a tweet, where he also announced the commencement of the expansion of the BRT lanes in the state.

According to the Governor, “Beyond road construction, we have started expanding the bus rapid transit system and gradually reducing the danfo buses on the roads. I am excited to announce that we have purchased over 800 buses to add to the existing BRT fleet expanding to more routes”

“We are supportive of private investment in transportation that is non-exploitative. This week, I launched @UberBoat, the first of many private-sector efforts at providing safe & efficient water transport working with our water transportation initiatives.”

The irony is that Tinubu's HOA thugs are "probing" Ambode for the SAME buses...
Even the so-called "new" BRT lanes are the Oshodi-Abule Egba BRT lanes that Ambode's administration was constructing. SMH

The question is who owns Primero transport Services that makes it the only qualified operator since 2008..probably Tinubu or one of his croonies

Wrong priority. Lagosians can manage without these BRT buses.

Focus on projects the citizens or the private sector can't do themselves with the scarce resources in the kitty.

There are loud potholes everywhere. How's the the Badagry expressway doing and Lekki-Epe? Are they being paved? What of the elevated train, the money for 800 buses I am sure can complete it.

Actually, we cannot...
There are always long lines and endless waits for buses these days.

It's not mutually exclusive to fix potholes (for which btw a so-called "state of emergency" was declared this week and contracts awarded to reputable contractors), continue to pursue the rail project (which obviously will not be completed overnight), and still introduce additional comfortable high-capacity and air-conditioned buses that would help tempt some middle-class folk to keep their cars off the clogged roads and uses the BRT.

Each BRT route (and there will ultimately be as many as 14 routes) is concessioned following a public bidding process...
Personally, I don't like the present situation, but reality is Primero is presently by far the most prepared operator, especially after it public debt offer.

You do have some point. The truth at the end of the day is that it is the private buses that still do most of the heavy lifting. The BRT buses will help unclogging the streets.

Lagos with too many cars on the road ! I thought they said this man is versed and well travelled?
Can't he start working on the alternative means of transportation to ease off the traffic situation in Lagos?
The rail line Ambode started has been abandoned, debris and hyacinth has taken over the water.
