.... MATTERS ARISING

#IMODEMOCRATICVANGUARD

Few days back, blogosphere was awash with different writings by the media praise singers of Chief Emeka Ihedioha, the governor of Imo.

Various captions on how the governor cleared the arrears of pension in the state choked the blogosphere and imolites.

To the media urchins and sychophantic supporters of the Mbaise born governor, he has done that which no one can do. But sure he failed to live up to that tall personality so claimed.

To them, the Rebuild Imo Government has done a great favor to our starving Pensioners despite the Government receiving huge allocations from Federal Government to that effect. The tranches of Paris club refund and other streams of income make any excuse lame, since he declared state of emergency on pension benefits.

This led our correspondent to carry out underground investigations as to ascertain the true position of this much talked about payment of pensions only for us to discover that:

1. Gov. Emeka Ihedioha only paid 2 months of pension arrears out of 5 months his adminstration is owing and some months he inherited from the rescue mission government.

2.That instead of paying the pensions in full amount, the mbutu man paid 50% pensions that's to say, if ordinarily your pension is #10,000,you will receive #5,000.

I went further to discover that instead of the #1.205B wage bill for payment of pensions as appropriated by the previous administration, Chief Emeka Ihedioha has told Ndi Imo that it costs his government #1.218B to pay Pensions monthly despite the allerged discovering of over 2000 ghost Pensioners.

Was the discovery of ghost Pensioners supposed to reduce the bill or increase it??
Why is Ihedioha not being truthful to Ndi imo?

With about #5.2Billion Naira pensions money left in his coffers as he assumed office, with all the razzmatazz and gallery display, our governor could only pay 2 months out of 5 months to pensioners.

This actually shows that the much touted "my word my bond" mantra was only a decoy to sway votes from the unsuspecting populace.

It is disappointing that the much publicized and politicized pension of the new Rebuild Imo administration ended in shambles. Chief Emeka Ihedioha used the issue of pensions as campaign against Okorocha's govt.

With the commencement of payments, starting with two months and only about 50%percentage is the height of irresponsibility on the side of the PDP govt.

Senior Citizens of Imo State were totally disappointed at the deductions of payments received. Suffering lack of payment for 5 months since he entered office, it is disheartening that after the long delay and purported verification, the government stated that pensioners who travelled outside imo state were not captured. And he went on to declare both those who travelled and those who couldn't come as a result of sickness, as many pensioners are critically challenged, were all categorised as ghost pensioners. The amount of N1.2 Billion which actually does not differ from the value released from Okorocha government after verification shows convergence of pension burden. Good reason expects that Mr Ihedioha would try to pay the 5 months accrued in his time while finding a way to reconcile debts of pension owed by his predecessor, since government is a continuum.

Besides the fact that pensioners are being owed 3 months under Gov. Ihedioha, there doesn't seem to be any plan in sight for Pension Harmonization and payment of gratuities.

Imolites in general are not satisfied with the manner chief Ihedioha is running the administration of the State. We will continue to demand for a better govt of our Imo.

From the foregoing, it shows that Chief Ihedioha only used pension promise as a lip service to gain political mileage and now the reality is that he is not only owing 3 months in his tenure, not cleared any backlog, still paying negotiated rate as was done by his predecessor, he is rather not interested in fulfilling his promise to the people.

What therefore made the reduction in number of pensioners not to reflect in reduction of pension value instead it increased it?

Imo State is experiencing a government that cannot qualify to be a better alternative...

2 things were obvious from ur write up. One was dat he was owing 5months arrears and paid 2 months of it. D other was dat he paid some of d other months owed to d pensioners which he inherited..
Now to d crux of d matter, d writer is not jus biased but is clearly fabricating and twisting facts. First he admitted investigations showed pensioners were paid some of their inherited pensions and den wen he was summarizing he forgot he had mentioned dat fact and went ahead to state dat d Governor hasn't cleared any backlog...
