Oyo State Governor, Engr.Seyi Makinde on the invitation of his Rivers State counterpart on Tuesday flagged off the Artillery Flyover Bridge in Portharcourt, the Rivers State capital.

Information Parrot Nigeria gathered that the flyover has a distance of 517metres cutting across 1st and 2nd Artillery in Portharcourt.

The project is to be executed by construction giant, Julius Berger PLC with 70% of the contract sum already paid upfront by the Rivers State Government.

The project has a completion time of16 months.

Gov.Wike while speaking at the event insisted that there shall be no variation in fees or date of expected completion.

It may interest you to note that two other flyover bridges are scheduled for flagoff on Wednesday and Thursday respectively by the Wike administration.

Makinde better get busy, Oyo state schools are without teachers after he hurried to stop school development levy thinking he was impressing his followers and painting Ajimobi bad, but as we speak many schools havent done Maths , Physics or Chemistry this term because Pricipals can no longer pay PTA teachers, schools now lack basic needs like chalk and water since principals cant run the school with thier own resources


I hope he can start putting physical things in place and start flaging off real project rather than trying to score cheap publicity all the time

Oyo State is almost bigger than southeast, with a large population(children) and thousands of schools.. federal allocation cant cater for everything, thats a big deception..Ajimobi's proposal of 1000k per term development levy paid to school governing board(PTA, Principal, and Old Students) is a smart move, thats like 8 naira per day parents should spend on education.. but Ajimobi was a rude punk and people never understood his policies

we are not talking about land mass here. The government should be able to build capacity for self sufficiency. Teachers, Doctors and Nurses are very important in our everyday living. The subjects he mentioned are core science subjects and these subjects shouldn't be taken by the PTA teachers. From my experience i know that these PTA teachers are mostly engaged by Schools in rural areas, govt should motivate and even add incentives to teachers deployed to rural areas. Education is a factor that will determine our tomorrow as a country so it should be given utmost priority
